12-month contract Position Overview We're looking for a Web Accessibility Consultant to support a state government agency in remediating its website and digital content to meet federally mandated digital accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1). This role involves identifying accessibility issues, developing and implementing remediation strategies, and helping embed accessibility into the organization's ongoing digital processes. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough audits of websites, web applications, and digital content to identify accessibility issues Document accessibility issues clearly and provide practical, standards-based remediation recommendations Collaborate with developers, designers, communications staff, and other stakeholders to build accessibility into design and publishing workflows Provide training and guidance to staff on accessibility best practices to support long-term compliance Requirements and Skills Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) Proficiency in web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and ARIA roles Ability to develop and implement solutions to accessibility issues, including remediation of documents and web content Experience in web development, digital content remediation, or user experience design Familiarity with accessibility testing tools (e.g., WAVE, Siteimprove) and assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers such as NVDA) Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document issues and train non-technical staff
