Job Description

This position is responsible for assisting staff in the University Advancement office. This student employment opportunity supports the development of skills aligned with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies . Through this role, students will strengthen the following competencies:
Communication:
Students build communication skills by practicing clear, respectful, and professional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication in a workplace setting.
Critical Thinking:
Students build critical thinking skills by applying judgment, solving problems, prioritizing tasks, maintaining accuracy, and using feedback to improve their work.

Students build leadership skills by taking initiative, demonstrating responsibility, supporting others, contributing ideas, and modeling positive workplace behaviors.
Professionalism:
Students build professionalism by practicing dependability, accountability, confidentiality when applicable, workplace etiquette, and respectful service in a workplace setting. Provide general administrative assistance to the advancement team, including but not limited to filing, data entry, creating marketing materials, and managing correspondence; Greeting and directing visitors and guests as they come into the University Advancement office; Assist with events hosted by the University Advancement and Alumni Relations offices; Contribute to stewardship efforts aimed at recognizing and thanking donors for their contributions to the university. This may involve preparing thank-you letters and other appreciation materials, as well as making phone calls Support the advancement team on various special projects and initiatives as needed. These projects may span across fundraising campaigns, alumni engagement initiatives, donor outreach efforts, and other strategic priorities of the university; Performs related duties as required. Currently enrolled at SXU; Must have transportation to work in The O'Grady Center located at 11000 S St Louis Ave; Preference for students majoring in Business Administration, Communication, Digital Marketing, or similar major, with interest in Philanthropy; Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment; Professional demeanor and ability to represent the university positively; Prior experience in administrative support, customer service, or event planning is a plus.
Description of Hours:
Hours are flexible, up to 10 a week, M-F 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
