PROGRAM STATEMENT

The Mission Market generates financial support for Muncie Mission Ministries by giving the community a meaningful way to care for people experiencing homelessness through the donation and purchase of gently used items, with 100% of net proceeds funding the Mission's ministry and services.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for carrying out all retail and processing operations in the store, including, but not limited to, creating a Christ centered environment, developing a qualified team, continual training and coaching for all staff, register operations, customer service, store appearance and displays, and employee interactions, as outlined in the essential functions of the job and in compliance with company policies, procedures, and mission statement.

Essential Functions:

• Lead by being an example of Christ to all staff, donors, and customers.
• Lead and equip team in the retail and processing operations of the store, including the handling of cash and credit card payments, checks, voids and refunds, in order to ensure the accuracy and security of all transactions, accepting donations, and presorting and pricing merchandise.
• Complete, with accuracy, Daily Reconciliation Sales Reports, Bank deposits, Daily Sales charts, Category Sales chart, and Donations charts, any other required reporting, and properly save and store all paperwork to ensure truthful reporting and recording of daily sales and donations.
• Work with management team to make daily bank deposits and acquire change for the register to ensure the accuracy and security of store funds.
• Complete with accuracy and a high level of organization all administrative needs of the store including appropriate schedules to ensure team is well equipped for each day, coaching documentation, performance logs, and any other necessary documentation that is needed for the operation of the department.
• Appropriately set daily goals and plan the day according to projections/targets.
• Review Cyfe Dashboard daily to understand and communicate target to team.
• Implement and maintain customer service standards in order to ensure compliance with the company mission statement and to provide a pleasant shopping experience for each customer.
• Responsible for the training of new employees in order to ensure the employees have all essential training needed to be successful in their position.
• Work with store staff to maintain the physical appearance of the store and processing area, including, but not limited to ordering and maintaining needed janitorial and restroom supplies, removing safety hazards, picking up store merchandise and restoring to proper place, cleaning parking lot, sidewalks, windows and doors, store floors, restrooms and other public areas, to ensure the safety and health of customers and employees by having clean and well-organized departments.

• Lead and train store staff in stocking store shelves and clothing racks, in order to provide customers with maximum shopping opportunities.
• Manage the continual set up and change of store displays in order to provide a pleasant shopping environment and to entice customers to shop new areas or items within the store.
• Facilitate and promote an encouraging, positive, and unified relationship between the Retail and Processing Departments to ensure all the operational needs of the store are being met.
• Lead and train store staff in recognizing the value and appropriate pricing needs of items prior to those items reaching the sales floor.
• Communicate all events related to customer service issues or problems, employee issues or accidents, and general store operations to the Director of Retail Operations, in order to ensure all issues are handled properly and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Communicate regularly with the Director of Retail Operations to ensure all store issues, praises, employee relations, etc. are addressed.
• Attend, as requested, training events provided by the company and all manager meetings as scheduled by the Director of Retail Operations and Human Resources Department.
• Tell the MMM story and continually connect the dots for staff and customers.
• Other duties assigned by management.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

• High School diploma or GED required
• Two to three years experience in retail or related experience preferred.
• Must be a people person with a pleasant and willing attitude and have a servant's heart.
• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) with an excellent command of the English language and be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
• Must have excellent time management skills, be detail-oriented, and have solid organizational skills.
• Must be able to take initiative, be a problem solver, and be able to work with a minimum amount of supervision.
• Must possess a demonstrable level of skill and proficiency in planning to meet established goals.
• Strong ability to delegate tasks and hold employees accountable for their productivity .
• Must be able to handle confrontation with love, grace and professionalism.
• Must have computer skills including typing, Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel (spreadsheets), and Email communications (including attachments).
• Ability to operate general office machines, copier, fax, printers, and scanners.
• Ability to read and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to operate a cash register and credit card machine.. Physical Demands
• Must be able to lift/carry up to 30 pounds.
• Must be able to stand up to 100% of a standard workday.
• Must be able to lift, bend, and climb stairs.
• Must be able to use hands to perform required duties up to 100% of a standard workday.
• Talk or hear - as needed throughout a standard workday.

Moderate physical activity. Depending on location, this position may require frequent strenuous activity. Able to lift at least 30 pounds. Use hands to lift, sort, clean, organize, throughout standard workday. Depending on location, this position may work in a warehouse setting with some outdoor exposure throughout the workday. Required to wear a name badge. Vision Requirements

Background Investigation and Drug Testing:

After a "conditional offer of employment" is made, the individual must pass a criminal background investigation. Muncie Mission Ministries may request the successful applicant to submit to and pass a drug and /or alcohol test. This drug and/or alcohol testing may occur any time after the applicant receives a conditional offer of employment. All employees must sign and adhere to MMM Substance Abuse policy and remain free from addiction to drugs and/or alcohol.

Hours:

Monday through Saturday, hours arranged by the Director of Retail Operations and approved by President/CEO. Mission Market Store Manager is an hourly - at will position.
