Louisiana Sportsman is looking for a talented, creative outdoor writer to take a leading role in the development of our digital and print editorial content. We're looking for someone who knows hunting and fishing in Louisiana and Mississippi, knows how to find a great story, and understands what makes people want to read, click and share. This is more than a traditional writing position. The ideal candidate will have the creativity and initiative to develop new story ideas, find fresh angles, improve our editorial content and help grow our digital audience. Responsibilities Develop and oversee editorial content for Louisiana Sportsman's website and print magazine. Write timely, engaging stories about hunting, fishing, wildlife, conservation and the outdoors in Louisiana and Mississippi. Find original stories and develop relationships with sources throughout the region. Take creative ownership of our editorial direction and bring new ideas to our content. Focus heavily on growing our digital audience through compelling stories, headlines, SEO, social media and timely content. Write and edit content for both digital and print. Work with photographers, freelancers and contributors. Qualifications Excellent writing and storytelling skills. Strong knowledge of hunting, fishing and the Louisiana and Mississippi outdoors. Ability to consistently generate original story ideas. Experience with digital publishing, social media and SEO. Strong editorial judgment and the ability to work independently. Journalism, communications, publishing or outdoor media experience is a plus.
