Overview The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies that promote the theatre, increase ticket sales, strengthen community awareness, and build lasting relationships with guests. This position oversees the theatre's marketing efforts across digital, print, social media, email, advertising, public relations, and in-house promotional channels. The Marketing Manager works closely with the General Manager, Assistant General Manager, artists, promoters, vendors, media partners, and community organizations to develop creative and effective campaigns for concerts, comedy shows, movies, community events, and other theatre programming. The ideal candidate is creative, highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven with strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple events and campaigns simultaneously in a fast-paced entertainment environment.
Develop and execute comprehensive marketing plans for theatre programming, including concerts, comedy shows, movies/films, special events, and community programming. Establish promotional timelines and coordinate campaigns across digital, print, email, social media, advertising, and in-house channels.
Ticket Sales & Audience Development:
Develop marketing strategies designed to increase ticket sales, attract new guests, encourage repeat attendance, and grow the theatre's overall audience. Monitor ticket sales and adjust promotional efforts based on event performance, inventory, and sales trends.
Social Media Management:
Manage the theatre's social media presence, including content planning, creation, scheduling, posting, and engagement. Develop creative content including graphics, photography, video, reels, stories, event announcements, and behind-the-scenes features while maintaining a consistent brand voice and visual identity.
Email & Digital Marketing:
Manage promotional emails, newsletters, event announcements, and targeted campaigns. Maintain the theatre's email marketing calendar, develop audience segments when appropriate, monitor campaign performance, and identify opportunities to improve engagement and ticket conversions.
Paid Advertising:
Plan, coordinate, and manage advertising campaigns across appropriate digital, social media, print, radio, and other channels. Monitor advertising budgets and campaign performance to maximize reach, engagement, and return on investment.
Graphic Design & Creative Direction:
Create and/or coordinate the development of posters, digital graphics, advertisements, signage, brochures, menus, promotional materials, and other marketing assets. Ensure all materials maintain consistent theatre branding and meet quality standards.
Website & Event Listings:
Maintain accurate and engaging event information across the theatre website, ticketing platform, online calendars, tourism websites, and third-party event listings. Ensure event descriptions, photos, dates, times, ticket links, pricing, and other guest information remain current and accurate.
Photography & Video Content:
Coordinate and capture photography and short-form video content during performances, events, artist arrivals, theatre activities, and behind-the-scenes moments for use in current and future marketing campaigns.
Print Marketing & Distribution:
Manage the creation, printing, organization, and distribution of posters, brochures, flyers, rack cards, and other promotional materials throughout the theatre and local community.
In-House Marketing:
Oversee marquee signage, digital screens, menu boards, posters, promotional displays, and other guest-facing marketing materials throughout the theatre. Ensure materials are timely, accurate, professional, and regularly updated.
Public Relations & Media:
Develop and maintain relationships with local and regional media outlets. Coordinate press releases, event announcements, interviews, media opportunities, promotional partnerships, and other publicity efforts.
Community Outreach & Partnerships:
Build relationships with local businesses, tourism organizations, community groups, schools, nonprofits, and other partners to increase awareness of theatre programming and identify cross-promotional opportunities.
Brand Management:
Maintain and strengthen the theatre's brand identity across all marketing and guest-facing communications. Ensure messaging, imagery, logos, and promotional materials consistently represent the theatre's personality, programming, and mission.
Marketing Analytics & Reporting:
Monitor and evaluate marketing performance using ticket sales, email engagement, website traffic, social media analytics, advertising results, and other available data. Prepare reports and use results to identify trends and improve future marketing efforts.
Marketing Budget:
Assist management with developing and managing the annual marketing budget. Track advertising and promotional expenses, evaluate campaign effectiveness, and make recommendations for the most effective use of marketing resources.
Event & Artist Promotion:
Coordinate with artists, agents, promoters, and management to obtain approved promotional materials and identify opportunities for artist participation in marketing efforts, including interviews, social media collaborations, ticket giveaways, and other promotions.
Intern & Staff Coordination:
Provide direction and oversight to marketing interns and other employees assisting with marketing projects. Delegate projects, establish deadlines, review work, and provide guidance to ensure marketing initiatives are completed accurately and on schedule.
Administrative Support:
Work closely with the General Manager and Assistant General Manager on reporting, research, event planning, special projects, and other administrative responsibilities related to theatre operations and marketing. Other proficiencies include the ability to communicate and work effectively with guests, supervisors, peers, employees, artists, vendors, media representatives, and community partners in a high-volume environment. The Marketing Manager must demonstrate excellent organizational and project-management skills, creativity, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time salaried position requiring a flexible schedule based on theatre programming and marketing needs. Regular in-office weeknight and weekend hours are required based on the event schedule with flexibility to complete remaining weekly hours remotely. The Marketing Manager may be required to attend performances, special events, community activities, and promotional opportunities to capture content, coordinate marketing initiatives, or represent the theatre. Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, Hospitality, Graphic Design, or a related field preferred. Previous experience in marketing, communications, entertainment, hospitality, event promotion, or a related field. Experience developing and executing multi-channel marketing campaigns. Strong knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, with an understanding of current social media trends and best practices. Experience with email marketing platforms, digital advertising, audience segmentation, and campaign analytics. Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar graphic design programs preferred. Photography, video creation, and basic video editing experience preferred. Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, web-based applications, social media management tools, and online marketing platforms. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to spelling, grammar, brand consistency, and accuracy. Experience working in a theatre, entertainment venue, hospitality environment, or live-event organization is a plus. Additional Eligibility Qualifications Must be 18 or older. Must be dependable, organized, and able to work independently. Must be comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Must have reliable transportation for community outreach and distribution of promotional materials. Must be available evenings and weekends based on the theatre's event schedule. Must be able to lift and carry marketing materials, signage, and event supplies as needed.
