About Laguna Dance For more than 20 years, Laguna Dance has presented internationally acclaimed dance performances while inspiring audiences through education, community engagement and artistic innovation. The nonprofit has become a cultural leader in Orange County, bringing celebrated artists and companies to Laguna Beach while creating opportunities for aspiring dancers and arts professionals. Founded by internationally renowned choreographer, educator and former professional ballerina Jodie Gates, Laguna Dance is recognized for artistic excellence and its commitment to developing the next generation of performers and arts leaders. Gates is the founding director of the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance and has enjoyed an acclaimed international career performing with the Joffrey Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, Frankfurt Ballet and Complexions Contemporary Ballet. Summer Stage:
WE The People, a multi-day festival featuring professional performances, new choreography and an immersive residency led by Gates and internationally acclaimed choreographer Peter Chu. Laguna Dance's work has been featured by the Los Angeles Times , Daily Pilot , Culture OC , LA Dance Chronicle and other regional arts publications, highlighting the organization's growing impact on Southern California's cultural landscape. Coverage of the organization's recent anniversary festival praised its commitment to bringing nationally recognized artists and original choreography to Laguna Beach while fostering meaningful connections between artists and the community. What You'll Do As a Laguna Dance intern, you'll become an important member of a small, collaborative team where your ideas and creativity matter.
Responsibilities include:
Create engaging campaigns and content for print ads and social media platforms. Assist with digital marketing campaigns, paid advertising and audience development. Help design promotional materials, print, email newsletters and marketing campaigns. Weekly updates to the Laguna Dance website. Write press releases to be distributed locally and nationally. Assist with media relations, public relations and storytelling initiatives. Support fundraising events, donor engagement and sponsorship activities. Conduct research and assist with grant reporting and nonprofit operations. Represent Laguna Dance at performances and community events. Who Should Apply We're looking for motivated undergraduate and graduate students who are creative, organized and eager to gain real-world experience.
Ideal majors include:
Communications Public Relations Marketing Journalism Business Nonprofit Management Dance Theatre or Performing Arts Graphic Design Digital Media Photography or Videography Arts Administration Event Management A passion for the arts is encouraged, but prior dance experience is not required. Learn professional marketing, branding and communications strategies from experienced nonprofit professionals. Network with artists, educators, donors, business leaders and community partners. Receive mentorship and professional guidance while exploring careers in the nonprofit and performing arts sectors.
