Northstar Searchlight Promotions is looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined individual to help deliver, set up, operate and retrieve our promotional searchlights at events throughout Indiana and the surrounding area. This is a unique, part-time position for someone who enjoys working with equipment, being outdoors and traveling to different events. No searchlight experience is necessary. We provide all training. Pay $22.00 per hour You are paid for all travel time from our Rensselaer shop to the event and back to the shop , in addition to setup, event and teardown time. For example, if an assignment requires two hours of travel each way plus setup and event time, you're paid $22/hour for the entire assignment — not just the hours you're at the event. What You'll Do Report to our Rensselaer location and pick up the necessary equipment Drive company equipment to event locations Set up and safely position searchlights Operate and monitor the equipment during events when necessary Perform basic troubleshooting if needed Tear down the equipment following the event Return the equipment to our Rensselaer location Interact professionally with customers and event personnel Schedule This is an event-based, part-time position with no fixed weekly schedule. Most of our events take place during evenings and weekends . Hours vary depending upon our event calendar, and some weeks may have no assignments while busier periods may have several. Because of the flexible schedule, this can be a good opportunity for someone who already has a full-time job, is retired, or simply wants to earn additional income on an occasional basis. Qualifications We're looking for someone who is: Dependable and punctual 21 years of age or older Has a valid driver's license and clean driving record Comfortable driving to events throughout Indiana and occasionally neighboring states Mechanically inclined and comfortable working around equipment Able to work independently Comfortable working outdoors and at night Available for evening and weekend assignments Professional when interacting with customers Experience with trailers, generators, electrical or mechanical equipment, maintenance, event production, farming, construction or similar hands-on work is a plus, but not required . Why This Job Is Different This isn't a typical part-time job. One assignment might involve setting up searchlights for a grand opening, another for a festival or community celebration, and another for a special tribute or major event. If you enjoy driving, working with equipment and going somewhere different rather than reporting to the same workplace every day , you'll probably enjoy this work. Training is provided, and you'll be paid while you're training.
