Job Description

Historic Hampton House Schedule:
Wednesday through Sunday Weekly hours: 30-35 (Flexible) Position Overview The Historic Hampton House is seeking an engaging, knowledgeable, and creative Museum Docent and Social Media Assistant. This hybrid position combines visitor engagement and museum tours with social media content creation and digital storytelling. The ideal candidate is comfortable speaking in front of groups, enjoys history and culture, and can create engaging content that helps introduce new audiences to the Historic Hampton House and its legacy. Responsibilities Museum and Visitor Services Lead engaging and accurate museum tours for visitors, school groups, and community organizations Learn and clearly communicate the history and cultural significance of the Historic Hampton House Welcome visitors and provide a friendly, professional museum experience Answer questions about exhibits, programs, tours, and upcoming events Assist with visitor check-in and scheduled group arrivals Help prepare museum spaces and tour materials before visitors arrive Support educational programs, special events, and community activities Maintain awareness of scheduled tours and communicate visitor needs to staff Help ensure that galleries and public areas are presentable and visitor-ready Social Media and Content Capture appropriate photos and short-form videos of museum programs, exhibits, tours, and events Create engaging content for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube Draft captions that reflect the museum's voice, history, and mission Help maintain a consistent social media posting schedule Promote upcoming tours, programs, events, exhibitions, and community initiatives Respond to basic social media comments and messages as directed Identify opportunities to share historical facts, archival materials, visitor experiences, and behind-the-scenes content Track basic engagement and recommend ideas for improving content performance Follow museum guidelines when photographing visitors, artwork, and historic materials Qualifications Strong public-speaking and interpersonal skills Interest in African American history, Miami history, museums, arts, culture, or historic preservation Comfortable leading tours for adults, children, and groups Experience creating social media content for an organization, business, or personal brand Ability to take clear photos and videos using a smartphone Strong writing, grammar, and communication skills Reliable, professional, organized, and comfortable working with the public Ability to learn and accurately present detailed historical information Available to work Wednesday through Sunday Bilingual English/Spanish or experience working with school groups is a plus Previous museum, education, hospitality, tourism, communications, or social media experience is preferred Application Requirement Applicants may be asked to provide examples of social media content they have created or briefly describe an account they have helped manage.
