Simple EJ's Kitchen & Tap, the scratch kitchen and sports restaurant at Fox Haven Square in St. Charles, is looking for a part-time costumed character performer. Our mascot is a real presence in this community. He greets families at the door, high fives kids, and shows up at schools, parades, youth sports games, and charity events. We are not looking for someone to stand in a suit. We are looking for a performer.

WHAT YOU WOULD DO

• Appear in costume at the restaurant during family hours, greeting guests and hanging out with kids
• Represent our mascot at community events: parades, school visits, youth sports, festivals, charity nights
• Stay fully in character. No talking. All body language, energy, and instincts.
• Pose for photos, lead simple games, and work a room without a script
• Work with our marketing team on short video and photo content
• Help maintain and transport the costume with care

WHO THIS IS RIGHT FOR

• Theater, improv, dance, cheer, or mascot experience, or a background working with kids such as camp counselor, childcare, coaching, teaching, or party entertainment
• Comfortable being the center of attention with no dialogue to hide behind
• Genuinely likes kids and reads a room well, including the kid who is scared and needs space
• Physically able to be active in a full costume for stretches at a time
• Reliable and on time.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must pass a background check
• Reliable transportation, including to off-site community events
• 18 or older
• Able to commit to about 10 hours per week, mostly late afternoons, evenings, and some weekend event days
• Willing to sign a confidentiality agreement.

To the kids in this town our mascot is real, and whoever wears the costume stays anonymous. That is not a formality, it is the job.

PAY AND SCHEDULE

• $22 to $28 per hour depending on experience
• About 10 hours per week with a genuinely flexible schedule, which works well alongside school, another job, or a performing career
