Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dynamic person to assist our innovative Symphony programs in a handful of schools. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in band and/or orchestra teaching with exceptional skills in classroom management and professional communications. This role is a training position for being a Symphony Director, which includes significantly higher pay and benefits. Duties Run weekly classes with students enrolled in the program. (.5 days per school is normal). 2 concerts per year per school. Communicate effectively with school staff, Tolbert Music Admins, and program parents. Qualifications Must hold some form of higher education degree in Music. Education preferred but not required. Classroom experience in a Band and/or Orchestra setting. Excellent written communication skills. Perks Being a Symphony Director is very lucrative and rewarding. This training position is a great opportunity to learn the skills necessary to be an effective director. You teach a minimal number of classes in an assigned school and then you get to move on. The number of meetings and extra duties you are asked to do is extremely small compared to other teaching jobs. Full time employees have access to health care and retirement plans. Adding private lessons can fill the job out nicely with relatively easy work that is on site where you are already teaching. Our innovative curriculum and program structure is extremely exciting. We start our kids younger than what is normal and mix symphonic instruments together. The progress they achieve is truly special.
