Part-Time Piano Accompanist

Job Description

The Piano Accompanist provides consistent, high-quality musical accompaniment that supports the instructional, rehearsal, and performance activities of the College's chorale. The accompanist works under the direction of the Chorale Director and serves as an integral member of the choral program's instructional and performance team.

Salary:

$500 a month for nine (9) months, Fall and Spring semester. $4,500 yearly, Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and must submit a complete application packet through the on-line application system to be considered. A complete application consists of the following: An on-line application Current résumé Copy of college transcripts (Transcript of college work verifying degree requirement; must include degree awarded and date confirmed. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted before the deadline, but official transcripts must be received if employed.) Application materials must provide documentation that the applicant meets all minimum qualifications. Provide piano accompaniment for scheduled chorale rehearsals, concerts, and performances. Prepare and perform assigned choral music in collaboration with the Chorale Director. Assist students with learning vocal parts and musical selections during rehearsals. Support students in developing musical skills, confidence, ensemble awareness, and understanding of choral repertoire through effective accompaniment. Attend assigned rehearsals and performances and provide reliable, professional musical support. Perform other related duties as assigned. Demonstrated proficiency in piano performance and the ability to accompany a choral ensemble. Ability to read and perform musical scores. Prior experience accompanying vocalists or choral ensembles preferred. Ability to work effectively with students and the Chorale Director. MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE A

Minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent is required. College-level coursework or degree in music, piano performance, or a related field preferred. Demonstrated experience providing piano accompaniment for vocalists, choirs, or musical ensembles is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Demonstrated proficiency in piano performance and the ability to provide effective accompaniment for a choral ensemble. Knowledge of musical notation, terminology, rhythm, tempo, dynamics, and choral repertoire. Ability to read, interpret, and perform musical scores. Ability to follow the musical direction of the Chorale Director and respond appropriately to changes in tempo, dynamics, phrasing, and interpretation. Ability to assist students in learning vocal parts and musical selections through effective piano accompaniment. Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and other members of the College community. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to demonstrate professionalism, dependability, flexibility, and punctuality for scheduled rehearsals and performances. Ability to remain focused and responsive during rehearsals and performances and adapt to changing musical or instructional needs. Demonstrated commitment to supporting student success and providing high-quality musical instruction and performance support.
