Job Description
Overview Laguna Country United Methodist Church is seeking a dependable, skilled Audio/Visual (AV) Director to oversee the operation, maintenance, and weekly execution of our worship technology systems. In this role, you will lead our technical ministry—operating ProPresenter and managing our YouTube livestream during Sunday worship, while supervising volunteers who run our soundboard and cameras. This position combines technical capability with a heart for ministry, ensuring our congregation—both gathered in the sanctuary and joining online—enjoys a seamless, inspiring worship experience. Duties Arrive Sunday mornings by 8:00 AM to power on, test, and prepare all sanctuary audio, projection, video switcher, camera, and livestream gear. Actively operate ProPresenter (slides, Scripture, lyrics, videos) and coordinate the live YouTube stream during worship services. Conduct pre-service audio and microphone checks with pastors, musicians, and speakers to guarantee balanced sound in the sanctuary and on the livestream feed. Direct and support two Sunday volunteers handling sound mixing and camera operations. Coordinate midweek with church staff to import, build, and test worship media slides in ProPresenter by Thursday evenings. Diagnose and troubleshoot technical disruptions quickly, calmly, and discreetly during live services. Oversee routine equipment care, organization of cables and microphones, and maintenance across all AV systems. Submit written requests to the Church Administrator for needed repairs or equipment replacements before making purchases. Maintain clear, organized documentation for equipment settings, system configurations, and account passwords. Skills Experience operating audiovisual systems within church, theater, broadcast, or live event environments. Strong proficiency with ProPresenter presentation software and multi-screen projection. Practical familiarity with live audio mixing (digital/analog boards, wireless microphones) and video streaming setups (e.g., YouTube, ATEM/video switchers). Demonstrated ability to remain calm, focused, and adaptable under live worship conditions. Warm, patient communication skills with the ability to train and encourage lay volunteers of varying technical skill levels.
