Overview Join a vibrant and dynamic musical community as a Collaborative Pianist for a progressive women's chorus dedicated to innovative and inclusive musical expression. About Us:
Bread and Roses is a progressive women's chorus that rehearses and performs in DeKalb. Our chorus is a registered non profit that was founded 30 years ago with a mission to build a singing community that would deliver messages of peace, justice, protection of our fragile environment, diversity, women's empowerment, and inclusion. The Opportunity:
You will be integral to rehearsals and performances of new and standard choral works covering traditional, pop, folk, spiritual, and international genres. Our music carries powerful messages of hope, empowerment, empathy, and inclusion -- with some humor thrown in. Our rehearsals are fun and enriching within a caring and supportive atmosphere. Responsibilities:
Accompanying rehearsals and one performance during each semester (August-December of 2026 and February-June of 2027). Collaborating on musical interpretation and expression. Maintaining a high level of preparedness for all sessions.
Qualifications:
Strong sight-reading skills. Experience in collaborative piano (choir, instrumental, or vocal accompanying). Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Reliable transportation and punctuality. An audition in person or online with our Director.

Rate:
Compensation for this role is negotiable and will be reflective of our non-profit status and commitment to maximizing our mission impact. We encourage applicants passionate about progressive ideals to apply.
Schedule:
Starting the last Sunday in August of 2026: Sundays from 5:45-8pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in DeKalb, with a few small ensemble rehearsals starting at 5pm. There are mandatory Tech and Dress rehearsals the week preceding a concert. Tech rehearsal is the Sunday before a concert, Dress rehearsal is the Friday night before a concert. Concerts are typically the first Saturdays in December and June.
