Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking an enthusiastic, patient, and talented Vocal Coach to teach student cast members their singing parts for our upcoming school musical production. In this role, you will work closely with a diverse group of middle school students (ranging from beginners to featured soloists) to teach pitch, rhythm, vocal harmonies, and ensemble blend. You will collaborate directly with our Production Director to ensure the students feel confident, prepared, and excited to take the stage.
Responsibilities Ensemble & Solo Rehearsals:
Teach student actors their vocal lines, harmonies, and cues for all musical numbers.
Vocal Technique:
Guide students in healthy vocal production, age-appropriate projection, articulation, and expression.
Collaboration:
Coordinate regularly with the Director and Stage Manager regarding rehearsal schedules, student progress, and tracking musical pacing.
Performance Readiness:
Run vocal warm-ups and assist in polishing musical numbers during the run-up to tech week and performances.
Qualifications & Skills Musical Expertise:
Strong proficiency in music literacy, score reading, and vocal pedagogy.
Piano Skills:
Ability to play rehearsal tracks or accompany students on the piano during rehearsals is highly preferred. Experience with
Youth:
Demonstrated experience teaching music or singing to children/teens.
Key Traits:
Exceptional patience, positive energy, strong classroom management skills, and a passion for youth theater.
Employment Requirements:
Must pass a mandatory criminal background check prior to the start of employment.
Schedule & Timeline Duration:
This position runs from January through the final performance on April 3.
Weekly Hours:
January on Fridays 3:30-5:30 February and March 3:15-4:15 Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays (no practices on 1/15, 2/3, 2/22-2/26, 3/25-3/29 Tech week March 30-April 1 Performances April 2 and 3 How to Apply Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter detailing your musical background and experience working with children to studentactivities@saintpatrickacademy.org with the subject line "Musical Vocal Coach Application - [Your Name]" .
