Rock-a-Baby Music Classes seeks singing guitarist to entertain and educate infants/toddlers and their grownups. 45 minute classes, parties, concerts throughout RI, weekdays and weekends, paid work, clean record, background checks required, must work well in a small 3 piece band, have a youthful, vibrant energy for young families, no experience in child care necessary. Job Description:
We are looking for an upbeat, professional, responsible guitarist to help lead interactive music classes, concerts and birthday parties for infants, toddlers and their grown-ups. Program includes weekly classes, performing original music, rock covers, and traditional children's songs. Great opportunity to make extra cash and spend daytime hours meeting & playing with easygoing, like-minded musicians.
Skills Needed:
Learn music from supplied streaming, sound files and chord charts Music improvisation Comedic improvisation Singing a wide range of music, from traditional kids songs to Pop and Rock and Roll Using a puppet (puppetry experience preferred but not required) Strong vocal ability (previous vocal training not required) Must work well in a small band format - acoustic guitar, keyboard, vocals Ability to take the lead at times - musically and theatrically Strong interpersonal skills with grownups and young children
Experience:
Previous work with other musicians in a live setting Previous work with children (preferred, not required) Experience with improv or comedy (preferred, not required) Experience in theater (preferred, not required)
Hours and Location:
Regular weekly classes year-round beginning late August on Friday mornings in Johnston, Wednesday mornings in Barrington, with potential for more classes on weekdays in Providence, Cumberland & Warwick. Paid rehearsals begin sooner to prepare for fall classes. Potential for weekend birthday parties and concerts
Compensation:
$30 per class, $60 per party/concert (45 minute class/party/concert plus set-up/breakdown time totaling around 1 hour) Rate increases available on merit and longevity
