As a key member of our music ministry, you will collaborate with choir directors, organists, and other musicians to create uplifting musical experiences that inspire congregation engagement and deepen spiritual connection. Your role involves performing live percussion for a variety of musical styles, including hymns, gospel, and contemporary worship songs, ensuring each service resonates with joy and reverence. Responsibilities Perform percussion and drum parts for weekly worship services, special events, and rehearsals with enthusiasm and precision Collaborate with music directors and other instrumentalists to select appropriate hymns, gospel pieces, and contemporary songs that align with the service theme Read sheet music and musical scores to accurately interpret arrangements and improvisations during performances Maintain and set up percussion instruments, ensuring sound quality through proper tuning and acoustic treatment adjustments when necessary Harmonize melodies with choir or band members to enhance musical richness and congregational participation Adapt playing style to blend seamlessly across various music genres such as gospel, hymns, jazz-influenced worship, or modern Christian music Contribute to the creative process by assisting in music selection, arranging rhythms, or composing improvisations that elevate the worship experience Experience Proven experience performing in religious music settings with a strong understanding of liturgical traditions and hymnody Demonstrated ability to perform concert music across diverse genres with technical proficiency on drums and percussion instruments Familiarity with digital audio workstations (DAWs) for recording or editing performances is a plus Experience playing guitar, piano or organ is advantageous for supporting multi-instrumental collaboration Knowledge of acoustic treatment principles to optimize sound quality within worship spaces Ability to read sheet music fluently and improvise creatively during live performances Theater or stage experience that enhances stage presence and audience engagement is beneficial Join us as a Church Drummer and help create inspiring worship moments that uplift spirits and foster community!
