Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Pianist/Worship Leader to inspire and lead our congregation in vibrant worship experiences. This role combines musical talent with spiritual leadership, creating an uplifting environment that fosters spiritual growth and community connection. The ideal candidate will possess strong musical skills, an understanding of liturgical traditions, and a heartfelt commitment to serving through music. We are currently inviting candidates for short-term contract appraisals as we evaluate their connection to the congregation, and available level of skills and commitment to share.
Short Term:
Pianist/worship leader as available for
Sunday Worship Services:
First Sundays of the month : Traditional UMC Liturgical Service on first Sundays of the month.
Remaining Sundays :
Modern/Blended Non-traditional services (occasional guitar accompaniment, percussioininst, and vocalists)
Long Term:
Hours:
5-8 hours per week 9 AM-11:30 AM every Sunday for Worship Practice and preparation on own or with additional musician/vocalist when available Special Worship Events (Advent, Christmas Eve, Lent, Easter, et cetera)
Supervision :
Works with the Worship Arts Team and is supervised by the Lead Pastor.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications: Experience and education in Worship Direction or Music Education or Performance. Cooperative, collaborative and flexible approach to working with Pastoral Leadership, Church Lay Leaders and Worship Committee to develop meaningful worship experience with music supporting the sermon theme each week. Proven ability to teach and develop musicians and vocalists in a variety of musical styles and instrumentation. Ability to identify and develop talent within congregation and encourage participation in RHUMC Music programs. Skilled in playing one or more instruments, and strong vocal and worship leading skills presenting worship services and events. Demonstrated ability, flexibility and willingness to blend many flavors of music and worship styles into services. Ability to find, learn and direct choirs and musical groups in performing songs ranging from traditional, decades and even centuries-old hymns to modern worship music from current and recent CCLI Worship Teams and Artists. As a vital part of our faith-based organization, you will cultivate a spirit of worship, manage musical teams, and ensure seamless musical performances during church services and special events. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to influence worship experiences while demonstrating leadership and musical excellence.
