Automotive Used Car Manager - Confidential OpportunityConfidential Automotive Management Opportunity A large, established, and growing automotive group is seeking an experienced Used Car Manager to lead and grow the pre-owned operation at one of our dealerships. This is a confidential search. Dealership and location details will be provided to qualified candidates during the interview process. We are looking for a proven used-car operator who understands that success in pre-owned is about more than selling cars. The right candidate will know how to buy the right inventory, price it correctly, control aging, manage recon, maximize turn, and protect gross profit. Key Responsibilities Manage all day-to-day used vehicle operations, inventory, pricing, acquisition, and merchandising Develop and execute a strong used-car inventory strategy based on market demand Actively acquire vehicles through trades, auctions, service-lane opportunities, direct purchases, and other channels Appraise trades accurately and make disciplined buying decisions Monitor inventory aging, turn, days-to-sale, market position, and gross profit Maintain the proper inventory mix and appropriate stocking levels Price and reprice inventory based on current market conditions while protecting profitability Manage the reconditioning process to reduce time-to-line and unnecessary recon expense Ensure vehicles are photographed, merchandised, and online quickly Work closely with Sales, Service, Parts, and Finance leadership to maximize dealership performance Desk deals and assist the sales team in structuring profitable transactions Develop processes that improve used retail volume, front-end gross, inventory turn, and overall profitability Maintain strong accountability for aged inventory and develop clear exit strategies when necessary Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of automotive used-car management experience preferred Proven track record successfully managing a high-volume pre-owned operation Strong vehicle appraisal and acquisition skills Deep understanding of inventory aging, turn, market pricing, recon management, and used-car gross Experience buying and selling vehicles through major automotive auctions Strong knowledge of digital inventory and market-pricing tools Ability to analyze data and make quick, disciplined inventory decisions Strong desking and deal-structuring abilities Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to hold a team accountable and operate in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment New-car franchise dealership experience strongly preferred Valid driver's license required What We Offer Highly competitive compensation package based on experience and performance Strong earning potential for a proven operator Comprehensive benefits package Established organization with the resources to support growth Performance-driven culture with significant opportunity for advancement Opportunity to take ownership of a used-car department and make an immediate impact Confidentiality All applications and conversations will be handled with discretion.
