Accounting Firm

Business Development & Marketing Manager

Job Description

Experience level: Experienced (5+ years in B2B business development and/or professional-services marketing) About the Firm Tortolano & Company is a growing firm serving small and mid-sized businesses across New England and the US, with a distinctive specialty in the healthcare sector — home health, hospice, skilled nursing, and behavioral health — alongside a full range of tax, accounting, and advisory services. We combine the technical depth clients expect from a firm with the responsiveness and personal attention of a locally owned practice. As we expand, we are investing in a dedicated function to grow our client base and tell our story to the market. The Opportunity We are hiring an experienced Business Development & Marketing Manager to own the full growth engine for the firm — from generating and nurturing new-client relationships to building and running the marketing that supports them. This is a blended, hands-on role: roughly half relationship-driven business development and half marketing strategy and execution. You will work directly with the partners, act as the connective tissue between our technical teams and the market, and have real ownership over how the firm grows. If you enjoy both the handshake and the campaign — and want your work to visibly move the needle — this role is built for you. What You'll Own — Business Development Build and manage a qualified pipeline of prospective clients, with a focus on our healthcare niche and small-business referral base. Develop and nurture strategic partnerships with referral sources — attorneys, bankers, financial advisors, healthcare consultants, and industry associations — and turn those relationships into a steady flow of introductions. Lead the new-client process from first contact through proposal and close, coordinating with partners on scoping, pricing, and engagement terms. Represent the firm at industry conferences, chamber events, and networking functions, and identify sponsorship and speaking opportunities that raise the firm's profile. Research target markets to identify high-value niches, service-line expansion opportunities, and competitive positioning. Track and report on all business-development activity in a CRM, reporting on pipeline health, conversion rates, and revenue attribution to the partner group. What You'll Own — Marketing Develop and execute the firm's annual marketing plan and budget, aligned to growth goals and seasonal cycles (tax season, year-end, healthcare reporting deadlines). Own the firm's brand and content across the firm's website, email, social media (primarily LinkedIn), and print — including thought-leadership content that positions our team as healthcare-accounting experts. Plan and run campaigns, newsletters, and client communications that reinforce the firm's reputation and support client retention and referrals. Manage the firm's website and its local search presence so prospective clients find us first. Produce and marketing collateral — one-pagers, proposals, pitch materials, and case studies — that the business-development effort can put to work immediately. Coordinate with outside vendors, freelancers, and design or web resources as needed, keeping quality high and spend accountable. Measure marketing performance using clear metrics, and report results and ROI to the partners. What We're Looking For 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing — ideally within professional services (accounting, legal, financial, or consulting) or the healthcare sector. A demonstrated ability of building relationships and closing new business, with references or results you can speak to. A hands-on, full-stack marketing skill set: comfortable setting strategy and personally executing content, email, and social media. Excellent communication and writing skills, with the polish to represent a firm to sophisticated clients and referral partners. Fluency with CRM and marketing tools (e.g., HubSpot or similar), email platforms, and social media management. Self-direction and the discipline to work independently, set your own priorities, and own outcomes. A working understanding of accounting or professional-services buying cycles — or genuine curiosity to learn the healthcare niche quickly. Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field preferred. Bonus Points Experience marketing to healthcare providers or the home-health, hospice, skilled-nursing, or behavioral-health markets. Prior business-development or marketing experience in a accounting or professional-services firm. Comfort with basic design tools (Canva, Adobe) and website platforms (WordPress or similar). An existing referral network in the New Hampshire / Seacoast / New England business community. What We Offer Competitive base compensation with a performance-based incentive tied to new-client revenue. A full benefits including health coverage, paid time off, and retirement plan participation. The opportunity to build and own a function from the ground up, with direct access to firm leadership. A flexible hybrid schedule and a collegial, growth-minded team. How to Apply Send your resume and a brief note on why this role fits you to. If you have a marketing sample, a campaign you're proud of, or business you've personally won, we'd love to see it. Tortolano & Company is an equal-opportunity employer and welcomes applicants of all backgrounds.
