$150,000-$180,000 annually, plus a full benefits package About the Role Dakota Creek Industries, a leading Pacific Northwest shipyard, is seeking a Finance & Business Director (FBD) to serve as a key member of our shipyard leadership team, combining senior financial stewardship with hands-on operational partnership. The FBD provides executive oversight of finance and accounting, human resources, and information technology. Working closely with the CEO, COO, shipyard management, project managers, production leadership, customers, vendors, and employees, the FBD connects financial performance to estimating, contracting, purchasing, production planning, labor utilization, project execution, quality, safety, and disciplined decision-making. The successful candidate will be a collaborative, business-minded leader who is equally comfortable producing financial statements, improving systems, and engaging directly with operations while motivating and mentoring others. What You'll Do Lead the finance and accounting functions with discipline, accuracy, and a focus on timely, meaningful reporting that supports executive and operational decision-making. Maintain effective internal controls, financial policies, and accounting practices that strengthen governance, accountability, and business integrity. Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning to provide clear visibility into business performance. Manage working capital, cash flow, receivables, payables, and inventory while supporting capital planning for major equipment, infrastructure, and long-term business needs. Manage relationships with banking, audit, insurance, and bonding partners, ensuring compliance with accounting, tax, contractual, and risk-management requirements. Manage job-cost accounting and partner with estimating, project management, purchasing, and production to improve visibility into project profitability, cost drivers, and financial performance. Collaborate with the outside corporate CPA firm on tax, audit, and year-end close. What We're Looking For Strong knowledge and experience in: Corporate accounting, GAAP-based financial reporting, internal controls, and disciplined financial governance. Cash flow management, working capital discipline, contract financial oversight, and risk-informed decision support. Payroll, labor economics, HR fundamentals, compensation practices, benefits administration, and employment compliance. Job-cost accounting, project profitability analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and practical financial modeling. Procurement, vendor management, cost accounting, and commercial discipline across purchasing and subcontractor relationships. IT systems oversight, cybersecurity fundamentals, ERP platforms, data analytics, and technology-enabled process improvement. Shipyard, manufacturing, construction, maritime, or other complex project-based operating environments; shipyard experience strongly preferred. Compliance with applicable state and federal employment, tax, and reporting regulations. Flexibility and willingness to step into additional duties as business needs require. Experience 8+ years of progressive corporate accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibility; OR Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, plus 5+ years of relevant experience.
