Position Summary As the Lead Bookseller & Tea Room Supervisor, you'll oversee the day-to-day operations of the store during the week, helping ensure our bookstore and tea room run smoothly while delivering outstanding hospitality. You'll lead by example, support team members, and help create the cozy, welcoming atmosphere that defines Between the Sips. This is a hands-on leadership position. You'll spend your day assisting guests, serving tea, recommending books, organizing displays, receiving inventory, and helping wherever needed. Responsibilities Open and close the store Supervise daily operations and support team members Deliver exceptional customer service Recommend books based on customer interests Prepare and serve tea, light food, and desserts while following food safety procedures Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment Receive, organize, and shelve incoming book shipments Merchandise displays and maintain inventory presentation Complete daily cash handling and closing procedures Monitor food safety logs and sanitation requirements Communicate regularly with the owner regarding operations, inventory needs, and any customer concerns Assist with special events, author signings, book clubs, and seasonal promotions Qualifications Preferred experience in one or more of the following: Independent bookstore Boutique retail Coffee shop Tea room Café Hospitality Customer service leadership We're looking for someone who: Enjoys connecting with people Loves creating memorable customer experiences Is organized and dependable Can work independently and make sound decisions Thrives in a small business environment Is comfortable leading a small team Has excellent communication skills Can stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds A love of books—especially romance—is a plus, but not required. Schedule Approximately 30-35 hours per week. Weekday availability is required. Weekend availability is appreciated but not expected every weekend. Compensation $20-23 per hour, depending on experience.
