The cashier will scan the customer's selections, ensure that prices and quantities are accurate, accept payments, issue receipts, answer inquiries, and provide helpful information to customers about products, promotions, or item location. You will also assist in processing refunds or exchanges of items and maintain a clean workspace

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide general assistance to customers. Greet customers entering establishments. Count the money in the cash drawer at the beginning of each shift to ensure the amounts are correct and there is adequate change. Ensure proper practice of TABC and WIC laws. Accepting payments, ensuring all prices and quantities are accurate, and providing a receipt to every customer. Weigh items sold by weight to determine prices. Process all transactions using a scanner, scales, a cash register, and other electronic devices. Receive and disburse money used for transactions. Process checks, credit, and debit cards, as well as Lonestar charges used for transactions. Calculate total payments received during a time period, and reconcile this with total sales. Compute and record totals of transactions. Process WIC used for transactions. Redeem food stamps, promotional coupons, and gambling machine tickets. Sale of Texas lottery tickets. Balancing the cash register and generating reports for credit &debit cards, as well as the other services that we offer at the cash register. Bagging and wrapping purchases to ensure safe transport. Maintain scan ability percentage levels as set by management. Report non-scanning items to the UPC Clerk or the Pricing Coordinator. Assist with duties in other areas of the store, such as monitoring fitting rooms or bagging and carrying out customers' items. Help customers locate and find the products they need. Offer customers carry-out service after transactions.

Experience:

• Some cash handling experience preferred but not required
• Fluent English and Spanish preferred but not required
• Highschool or G.E.D preferred, but not required
• Must be at least 18 years old
