About the
Role:
The Director of Membership at a Country Club is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of membership growth, retention, and engagement to ensure a vibrant and thriving club community. This role requires strategic planning and execution of membership initiatives that align with the club's values and business objectives, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for current and prospective members. The Director will serve as the primary liaison between the club's leadership and its members, addressing member needs and enhancing overall satisfaction. Additionally, this position involves analyzing membership trends, developing marketing strategies, and collaborating with various departments to deliver exceptional member experiences. Ultimately, the Director of Membership plays a critical role in sustaining the club's reputation and financial health through effective membership management and community building.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Marketing, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in membership management, sales, or customer relations, preferably within a country club, private club, or hospitality environment. Proven track record of successfully growing and retaining membership bases. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse member demographics. Proficiency in membership management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Business Administration or related field. Experience working in a private or country club setting. Familiarity with CRM systems and digital marketing tools. Certification from a recognized club management organization (e.g., Club Management Association of America - CMAA). Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and cross-departmental projects.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive membership recruitment and retention strategies to achieve growth targets. Manage the membership application and approval process, ensuring compliance with club policies and standards. Build and maintain strong relationships with current members, addressing concerns and enhancing member engagement. Collaborate with marketing and events teams to promote membership benefits and organize member-focused activities. Analyze membership data and market trends to inform strategic decisions and report regularly to club leadership. Oversee membership communications, including newsletters, social media, and direct outreach to maintain active member involvement. Train and supervise membership staff to deliver high-quality service and support to members. Represent the club at community events and networking opportunities to attract potential new members.
