Curious Flora Nursery is a nursery with deeply-established roots in the local community and in Bay Area horticulture. We are a production and retail nursery growing a remarkable selection of plants at our 2.5-acre nursery located in Richmond CA. We specialize in California native and Mediterranean climate-sourced plants, as well as heirloom cottage garden classics, and botanical curiosities from around the world. We're looking for a passionate and experienced horticulturist and retail professional to join our team and help build on our tradition of supplying the rare and wonderful assortment of quality plants that have come to define Northern California gardens. At Curious Flora Nursery we aim to inspire new and experienced gardeners and plant collectors by providing exceptional customer service and a compelling selection of plants unlike any other nursery. As a member of our retail sales team, you will facilitate our goals by rapidly gaining familiarity and comfort with our selection of plants and good gardening practice in order to provide advice and recommendations for customers, and by ensuring a seamless shopping and checkout process using our POS and your knowledge of our inventory. Our retail sales team is an invaluable part of our nursery and our most direct point of contact with our community. Join our team and come grow with us. Role and Responsibilities

• Setting and maintaining a positive, enthusiastic tone for customers
• Performing daily POS functions such as opening/closing, checkout, and cash handling
• Participating in plant management such as watering, cleaning, and pruning
• Working with team members to ensure that the retail nursery space is safe, clean, easy to navigate, and properly signed to ensure a pleasant shopping experience for customers
• Engaging with customers to provide expert advice and to follow up with other staff to provide the best recommendations possible
• Creating a pro-active customer service experience
• Merchandising hard goods and plant materials
• Assisting with plant movement
• Other tasks as assigned Your Experience
• 2 years of professional horticulture experience
• If you are an enthusiastic gardener but lack professional horticulture experience, you are encouraged to apply with a cover letter detailing your gardening background.
• Experience with POS systems and cash handling
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Practical gardening experience
• Comfortable with outdoor work in various weather conditions
• Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for moving plants and nursery materials
• Must be able to work weekends
• Spanish language skills a plus. Pay and Benefits $22-$28/hr depending on experience
