Position Overview Smith Turf is seeking a motivated and results-driven Account Executive- Turf Care Equipment 'TCE' to develop and grow sales within an assigned territory. This is a field-based outside sales position focused on selling turf care equipment, allied products, landscape and select commercial equipment to landscape contractors, national accounts, and sports fields and ground 'SF&G' accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
Sell and develop new business for turf care equipment, allied products, and certain commercial products within an assigned territory Mange outside sales territory through regular field sales calls, customer visits, prospecting, networking, and follow-up Identify, qualify, and pursue new sales opportunities with landscape contractors, national accounts, sports field and grounds organizations Develop and execute territory sales strategies designed to achieve revenue, sales growth, and profitability, and customer satisfaction Conduct equipment demonstrations, product presentations, proposals, and customer meetings Provide product recommendations, technical assistance, and application guidance for equipment, parts, and related products Maintain a working knowledge of Smith Turf operations in order to effectively manage customer expectations throughout the sales, delivery, installation, service, and support lifecycles Learn, operate, and demonstrate applicable product and equipment lines Prepare timely and accurate quotes, pricing, proposals, and bids while protecting company profitability and maintaining appropriate margins Manage the bid and administration process for state contracts and other contract-based business Maintain accurate records of prospects, opportunities, projects, customer activity, tasks, quotes, sales forecasts, and pipeline information in the company's CRM Effectively communicate with internal and external business partners regarding trade-in equipment, customer concerns, equipment demonstrations, loaner equipment, deliveries, service needs, and related issues Review and ensure manufacturer rebates, special pricing, and incentive submissions are accurate, complete and current Assist with the development and execution of marketing plans, product promotions, customer events, and brand awareness initiatives Attend manufacturer and vendor product training programs, sales meetings, local events and regional industry trade shows Assist branch locations with annual inventory activities and other operational responsibilities as needed Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, competitive products, customer needs, and emerging turf and landscape technologies
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in sales, outside sales, territory sales, account management, or business development Experience selling turf care equipment, landscape equipment, ground maintenance equipment, power equipment, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, or related products is preferred Experience in the turf, lawn and landscape, sports field, municipal, agricultural, or commercial equipment industries is a plus Demonstrated ability to prospect for new business, develop sales opportunities, conduct product demonstrations, prepare proposals, negotiate pricing, and close sales Strong consultative selling, presentation, negotiation, communication, and customer service skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Professional, tactful, personable, and capable of building effective relationships with customers and business partners Self-motivated and able to work independently while managing a field-based sales territory Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts, projects, quotes, and sales opportunities Ability to speak effectively in public and deliver professional presentations and proposals Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel; experience with CRM or sales management software Ability and willingness to complete and maintain required annual manufacturer and vendor training Must reside within or be willing to relocate to the designated sales territory Maintain valid driver's license and driving record that meets company and insurance requirements Ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory, including occasional overnight travel, trade shows, customer events, and training programs
