Working closely with the Store Manager, you'll help lead the team, drive sales, develop our people and make sure the day-to-day operation stays organized, compliant and guest-focused. You're not just keeping the floor moving — you're paying attention to the bigger picture, from store performance and inventory to team development and the overall guest experience. We're looking for a hands-on leader who loves cannabis, understands retail and knows how to bring out the best in people. You're comfortable jumping onto the floor when it's busy, coaching a team member, digging into sales performance or solving an operational issue. You lead with good judgment, accountability and personality while helping uphold the standards of Cheech & Chong's Dispensoria and California's highly regulated cannabis industry. ResponsibilitiesSales Partner with the Store Manager to build a sales-driven, guest-focused culture within the store. Understand store sales goals and take an active role in driving the team toward meeting and exceeding expectations. Monitor key store KPIs, including sales performance, average basket size and units per transaction, and identify opportunities for improvement. Review sales performance and provide observations and recommendations to the Store Manager. Coach team members on selling skills, product recommendations and maximizing guest interactions. Lead by example on the sales floor and actively participate in team incentives, promotions and sales initiatives. Ensure the team consistently follows Cheech & Chong's selling standards by asking fact-finding questions, providing education and maximizing each guest interaction. Customers Set the standard for friendly, knowledgeable and engaging customer service across the store. Help create the kind of dispensary experience guests actually want to come back to — welcoming, relaxed, educational and never intimidating. Build genuine relationships with guests and encourage the team to get to know regulars and develop a loyal customer base. Coach Budtenders and Key Leads on guest engagement, product education and delivering a consistent experience. Step in to manage escalated guest concerns and resolve issues with professionalism, good judgment and a solutions-focused approach. Ensure cannabis education provided by the team remains responsible and does not include medical or therapeutic claims. Identify opportunities to improve the overall guest experience and share recommendations with the Store Manager. People Foster a positive, inclusive and accountable store culture where team members feel supported and motivated to perform. Provide ongoing coaching, training and feedback to Budtenders and Key Leads. Support the Store Manager in evaluating employee performance and identifying opportunities for development. Help onboard and train new team members, ensuring they understand store standards, responsibilities and expectations. Support the development of cannabis and product knowledge across the team. Recognize strong performance and address performance or behavioral concerns in partnership with the Store Manager. Assist with scheduling and staffing needs to support strong guest service while remaining mindful of labor needs. Provide clear direction and priorities to the team and ensure responsibilities are followed through. Support Key Leads in developing their own leadership and decision-making skills. Lead by example and represent Cheech & Chong's Dispensoria professionally both inside and outside the store. Product Maintain strong knowledge of the brands, cannabis products and accessories carried by the store. Continuously develop your understanding of cannabinoids, terpenes, product formats, consumption methods and responsible use. Stay informed on new products and actively participate in product, brand and compliance training. Help identify product knowledge gaps and reinforce ongoing education across the team. Maintain merchandising and visual standards to create an organized and engaging shopping experience. Support accurate inventory management, including receiving, outgoing product, counts, audits and reconciliation. Work with the Store Manager to identify product trends, guest feedback and assortment opportunities that may support store performance. Help ensure product is accurately represented and responsibly recommended to guests. Operations Partner with the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation of the dispensary and help ensure store standards are consistently maintained. Take ownership of store operations when the Store Manager is not present. Oversee and support opening and closing procedures and ensure Key Leads are completing them accurately. Ensure store procedures, policies and operational standards are consistently followed by the team. Support cash management, register reconciliation and cash-control procedures. Help oversee inventory counts, receiving, audits, product organization and reconciliation. Maintain store cleanliness, organization and overall presentation standards. Ensure the vault and other controlled or restricted areas remain organized and maintained according to store procedures. Support administrative tasks, store supplies and other operational needs. Identify operational issues and work with the Store Manager to implement practical solutions. Escalate IT, facility, security or other store issues to the appropriate contacts when required. Stay current on internal and cross-functional communication and ensure relevant information is communicated to the team. Support health and safety procedures and initiatives as directed by the Store Manager. Complete other duties as required to support the successful operation of the dispensary. Compliance Adhere to and help uphold all applicable California Department of Cannabis Control regulations, local requirements and company policies and procedures. Help ensure Budtenders and Key Leads consistently follow California cannabis regulations and internal compliance procedures. Ensure valid government-issued identification and customer eligibility are properly verified before cannabis transactions are completed. Understand and enforce applicable California cannabis purchase limits and transaction requirements. Help maintain accurate cannabis transactions, inventory records and required Flowhub and Metrc procedures. Oversee and support inventory audits, receiving and reconciliation in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations. Ensure requirements related to cannabis storage, security, restricted-access areas and product handling are consistently followed. Identify and immediately escalate inventory discrepancies, suspected diversion, identification concerns or other potential compliance issues. Ensure required onboarding and ongoing compliance training is completed and reinforced across the team. Ensure cannabis education provided by the team does not include medical or therapeutic claims or medical advice. Communicate significant incidents and compliance concerns to the Store Manager and support appropriate follow-up. Marketing + Community Stay informed on current marketing initiatives, promotions and product launches and ensure the team understands what is happening in-store. Partner with the Store Manager and leadership team to support brand activations, events and community initiatives. Help bring the Cheech & Chong personality to life through the overall store and guest experience. Pay attention to guest feedback and share relevant insights that may help improve marketing or store initiatives. Ensure the team captures customer information and adds guests to the loyalty program where appropriate and in accordance with company procedures. Encourage happy guests to share their experience and leave a Google review. Proactively contribute ideas for store events, partnerships, promotions and other opportunities to connect with the local Sonoma community. Be a positive ambassador for Cheech & Chong's Dispensoria both in-store and within the community. Candidate Requirements Must be 21 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in business, retail management or a related field is an asset. 2+ years of retail, hospitality, cannabis or other customer-facing experience preferred. Previous supervisory, assistant management or retail management experience strongly preferred. Cannabis retail experience is an asset, particularly within a regulated California retail environment. Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and motivate a team in a fast-paced retail environment. Comfortable providing feedback, addressing performance concerns and supporting employee development. Strong understanding of sales performance and retail KPIs with the ability to identify opportunities and coach the team toward results. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with guests, team members and leadership. Confident handling customer escalations, employee concerns and operational issues with professionalism and good judgment. Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently follow and reinforce California cannabis regulations and internal compliance procedures. Comfortable using POS and inventory systems, including supporting cash handling, register reconciliation and inventory controls. Experience with inventory management, receiving, audits and reconciliation preferred. Must be available to work a flexible retail schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays as required. Able to stand for extended periods and perform the physical duties associated with a retail environment, including lifting and moving inventory as required.
