Electrical Department Manager Location:
Northern Kentucky Schedule:
Monday-Friday, with oversight of the on-call rotation The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced, Kentucky-licensed Master Electrician to lead and grow an established electrical department. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who combines strong technical expertise with team leadership, customer service, and business operations. You will oversee daily department operations, mentor electricians and apprentices, ensure safe and code-compliant work, and drive department performance and profitability. The ideal candidate is comfortable supporting technicians in the field while also managing scheduling, job quality, team development, and financial results. Key Responsibilities Department Leadership Oversee daily operations, scheduling priorities, job coordination, and workflow. Lead, coach, and develop electricians and apprentices. Support hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management. Coordinate staffing and on-call coverage. Partner with dispatch and other departments to keep jobs running efficiently. Technical Oversight & Safety Serve as the department's Kentucky-licensed Master Electrician. Ensure electrical work meets applicable codes, permit requirements, and company standards. Provide technical guidance, troubleshoot complex issues, and support escalated field jobs. Perform fieldwork when needed and conduct quality checks. Promote safe work practices and support ongoing licensing and certification development. Department Performance & Growth Monitor revenue, profitability, productivity, and customer satisfaction. Review estimates, labor, materials, and pricing to support profitable jobs. Coach technicians on presenting solutions and communicating recommendations to customers. Identify opportunities to expand services and grow the department. Oversee truck inventory, material usage, job documentation, and operational efficiency. Communicate department results and improvement opportunities to leadership. Qualifications Active Kentucky Master Electrician license required. Extensive hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, and installing electrical systems. Previous experience leading, supervising, or mentoring electricians preferred. Strong understanding of electrical codes, permitting, and jobsite safety. Ability to understand job costing, labor and material expenses, and department profitability. Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Comfortable using Microsoft Office and service management or scheduling software. Valid driver's license and driving record that meet company requirements. Compensation & Benefits Competitive compensation with commission opportunities. Bonus plan.
