We are looking for this one person who is familiar with AI world we are living in! Problem solver, Independent thinker and comprehension skills makes you are perfect candidate. Must be highly computer literate, and ready to take charge of the shop while the owner is out selling!
WHAT WE NEED
We need someone who can walk into a busy production environment in the morning, understand what needs to ship that day, establish priorities, solve problems and keep the entire operation moving. Work closely with our Production Manager.
You should be comfortable:
Managing employees Planning and prioritizing daily production working with our production manager Reviewing incoming jobs and determining the best production method Working directly with customers and finding ways to increase online sales Handling rush jobs without disrupting the entire production schedule Managing employees, schedules, accountability and performance Troubleshooting production problems and making decisions without waiting for the owner Understanding job costing, waste, productivity and profitability Coordinating outside vendors when work must be outsourced Helping train employees and improve processes Finding better, faster and more profitable ways to produce work Jump in the car and go see clients if needed or attend a trade show
PRINTING EXPERIENCE MATTERS
We strongly prefer someone with substantial hands-on experience in a commercial printing, digital printing, sign, apparel or related production environment . You do not necessarily have to know every machine we own. However, you should understand the language and economics of production: estimating, prepress, substrates, digital presses, finishing, bindery, wide format, mailing, apparel decoration, outsourcing, turnaround times, spoilage, labor and job profitability. Experience managing a print shop or similar production business is highly desirable.
AI & TECHNOLOGY ARE IMPORTANT TO US
Sterling Printing intends to be a technology-driven printing company. We are particularly interested in candidates who actively use—or are excited to use— Artificial Intelligence and automation to improve the business. This may include using AI to: Improve estimating and quoting Research products and vendors Automate repetitive administrative work Improve production scheduling Draft customer communications Analyze costs and profitability Develop SOPs and employee training materials Assist with marketing and sales Identify workflow bottlenecks Improve purchasing and inventory decisions Find new products, services and revenue opportunities We don't expect AI to run the printing presses. We expect our General Manager to understand how technology can make the people running those machines and the company around them more productive.
THE PERSON WE WANT
We are looking for someone who: Takes ownership. If something goes wrong, you solve it. Can make decisions. You won't need to call the owner about every issue. Understands urgency. Printing is a deadline business. Can manage people. You know how to be fair, direct and accountable. Understands customers. Sometimes keeping a customer requires finding a solution that isn't obvious. Thinks financially. Revenue alone doesn't matter if the job isn't profitable. Is technologically curious. You look for better ways to do things rather than saying, "This is how we've always done it." Is hands-on. This is not an office-only management position. When necessary, you walk onto the production floor and help solve the problem or help produce it.
MOST IMPORTANTLY
We are looking for someone who can eventually become the person the owner trusts to say: "I've got it. You don't need to be here." When the owner is away, employees should know who is in charge. Customers should continue receiving excellent service. Jobs should ship on time. Problems should be handled. The business should continue operating normally. We want someone who treats Sterling Printing's customers, employees, equipment, reputation and profitability as seriously as if the business were their own.
