Job Description

Sunshine House Coffee is a locally owned coffee shop built around great coffee, genuine hospitality, community, and kindness. We're looking for a dependable, motivated leader who can help us maintain a welcoming environment while keeping the day-to-day operation of the shop running smoothly. This is a hands-on management position. Our manager isn't someone who manages from the sidelines—you'll work alongside the team, serve customers, solve problems, coach employees, and help make sure Sunshine House operates at a high standard every day. Responsibilities The Coffee Shop Manager will: Lead and supervise baristas during daily operations Help create and maintain employee schedules Ensure shifts are appropriately staffed Train and coach new and existing employees Hold employees accountable for attendance, performance, cleanliness, customer service, and established procedures Open and/or close the shop as needed Maintain consistent drink quality and recipe standards Monitor inventory and communicate ordering needs Help control waste, product usage, and operating costs Maintain cleanliness, organization, food-safety standards, and overall appearance of the shop Handle customer concerns professionally and appropriately Assist with cash handling, deposits, POS procedures, and daily operational tasks Communicate equipment or maintenance problems promptly Help implement new drinks, promotions, procedures, and seasonal menus Communicate effectively with ownership regarding staffing, inventory, customer concerns, operational problems, and opportunities for improvement Step behind the bar and work alongside the team whenever needed What We're Looking For Our ideal manager is: Dependable and punctual Friendly but able to hold people accountable Organized and able to prioritize Comfortable making decisions and solving problems independently Able to communicate clearly and respectfully with employees and customers Willing to take ownership rather than waiting to be told what needs to be done Calm and effective during busy periods Detail-oriented and committed to consistency Comfortable learning basic sales, labor, inventory, and cost-management concepts Someone who leads by example Preferred Experience Previous coffee shop, restaurant, retail, hospitality, or food-service experience Previous leadership, shift-lead, assistant-manager, or management experience strongly preferred Barista experience is helpful but not required for the right candidate—we can teach coffee skills more easily than we can teach leadership, reliability, and initiative. Physical & Scheduling Requirements Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods Ability to lift and carry typical café inventory and supplies Ability to work early mornings and occasional Saturdays as required by the business Reliable transportation Flexibility to help cover unexpected staffing needs when necessary What Success Looks Like A successful Sunshine House manager creates a shop where employees know what's expected of them, customers receive consistently excellent service, the store is clean and organized, products are made correctly, problems are handled before they become bigger problems, and ownership doesn't have to be physically present for the business to run well. Pay:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 25.0 - 40.0 per week
