Togo North America (TNA) is seeking a customer-focused, technically minded Sales Engineer to serve as the technical and commercial link between our customers and internal teams. This role supports new and existing automotive business from RFQ and technical review through pricing, program changes, production support, and ongoing customer relationship management. About Togo North America Founded in 1940 in Coldwater, Michigan, our company built a reputation for quality, reliability, and customer commitment. In 2023, production operations transitioned to Togo North America in Portland, Tennessee. TNA is a Tier 1 and Tier 2 automotive supplier providing hose clamps, flat springs, and clutch packs through a combination of in-house manufacturing and strategic imports from Japan. - Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts and respond to customer requests, technical questions, pricing inquiries, program updates, and commercial concerns.
- Review and respond to customer RFQs, drawing requests, engineering changes, sourcing activities, supplier portal requests, and other program requirements.
- Coordinate RFQs and quotations by gathering technical, manufacturing, purchasing, logistics, and cost information needed to develop accurate and competitive proposals.
- Interpret customer drawings, specifications, application requirements, volume assumptions, and commercial requirements and coordinate internal review with the appropriate teams.
- Prepare and maintain PPP documentation for new programs, engineering changes, volume changes, build-outs, ramp-downs, and other program changes.
- Coordinate customer requirements across Customer Service, Quality, Purchasing, Production/Planning, Shipping, Accounting, Program Management, Sales Management, and Japanese advisors, following activities through completion.
- Support pricing, purchase-order changes, annual price adjustments, commercial claims, tariff and cost-recovery activities, RMAs, customer emergencies, and other account needs.
What We're Looking For We are looking for a hands-on, technically capable professional who can build strong customer relationships, understand automotive manufacturing requirements, and keep complex customer programs moving across multiple departments.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Business, or a related field preferred; relevant technical manufacturing and automotive customer experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Automotive OEM, Tier 1, or Tier 2 experience preferred.
- Experience supporting RFQs, quotations, technical drawings/specifications, engineering changes, pricing, customer programs, or commercial account activities preferred.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand manufacturing processes, customer specifications, forecasts, program volumes, and commercial requirements.
- Strong customer relationship, communication, organization, problem-solving, negotiation, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple customer accounts, programs, action items, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills; ERP experience required with Plex preferred; CRM/equivalent sales platforms and customer portal experience are a plus.
- A true team-player mindset with strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with international/Japanese support teams.
- Comfortable working in technical manufacturing environments and participating in customer, plant, supplier, and program meetings.
- Willingness to travel 25-40%. Compensation & Benefits
