We are looking for a self-motivated, relationship-driven sales professional to join our team in Des Moines. This role is ideal for someone who understand the construction industry and enjoys collaborating with contractors, distributors, manufacturers, and internal teams to deliver exceptional solutions and service. What you'll do: Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with contractors and distributors to position Mercer-Zimmerman as the agency of choice for lighting and controls products and services. Present new products to customers and provide lighting solution consultation. Provide service and support to customers during design, construction, and post-project completion. Collaborate closely with our quotations and project management teams to ensure successful project execution. Assist with submittals, project planning, and pre-construction meetings. Conduct technical and product training sessions for customers in the territory or at our manufacturers' facilities. Represent Mercer Zimmerman and our manufacturer partners with professionalism, responsiveness, and industry expertise.
The ideal candidate will:
Have construction industry experience and the ability to read and interpret project documents, including drawings, schedules, and submittals. Be an effective communicator with strong written, verbal, and presentation skills. Excel at building and maintaining long-term business relationships. Demonstrate integrity, accountability, and follow-through in all interactions. Be a proactive problem-solver who anticipates challenges and develops effective solutions. Embrace a team-first mindset and contribute to the success of the entire organization. Be comfortable interacting with everyone from executives and project managers to field personnel. Work independently while consistently achieving individual and team goals. Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Education and Experience A bachelor's degree in business, construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred, but not required. Three or more years of sales, business development, construction, electrical, lighting, or related industry experience preferred.
