Boat Sales Professional — Lake Wylie
Job Description
Boat Sales Professional — Lake Wylie High-Performance Marine Sales | $4M+ Production Standard Charlotte Ski Boats — Lake Wylie Charlotte Ski Boats is looking for a proven high-ticket sales professional and closer to join our Lake Wylie team. This is not an entry-level sales position, and it is not a role for someone looking to simply staff a showroom and wait for customers. We're looking for someone who knows how to build value, manage a pipeline, follow up consistently, negotiate professionally, protect gross, and ask for the business. Marine experience is valuable, but it isn't required. We can teach boats. We're looking for someone who already knows how to sell. The Opportunity At Charlotte Ski Boats, $4 million in annual sales is the production standard—not the ceiling. Our Lake Wylie location is positioned with in-demand products, inventory, and the ability to support a high-producing salesperson. For the right producer, there is opportunity to build a $4M, $5M, $6M+ book of business. Our compensation structure is designed to reward both volume and gross. Compensation 2% of retail selling price PLUS 20% of every dollar sold above established costline At different production levels, the 2% sales commission alone represents: Annual Sales 2% Sales Commission $4,000,000 $80,000 $5,000,000 $100,000 $6,000,000 $120,000 That's before additional commission earned from selling above costline. Example If a boat sells for $150,000 and the transaction is $20,000 above established costline : 2% sales commission: $3,000 20% of $20,000 overage: $4,000 Total commission: $7,000 Produce Volume + Protect Gross = Increase Your Income There is significant upside for a salesperson who can consistently do both. Your Top 5 Responsibilities 1. $4M+ Sales Production & Gross Protection Own your number. Our standard is $4M+ in annual retail sales , with the opportunity to produce significantly beyond that. Build value, negotiate professionally, and protect margin rather than relying on discounting to close business. You'll be accountable for both production and the quality of the deals you produce. 2. Pipeline Conversion & Closing Own opportunities from first contact through signed deal and delivery. That includes walk-ins, incoming calls and emails, digital leads, Live Help, previous customers, unsold prospects, referrals, and self-generated opportunities. Maintain disciplined follow-up and move customers through the buying process. Most importantly, know when it's time to ask: "What do we need to do to earn your business today?" We're looking for someone who knows the difference between being helpful and actually closing . 3. F&I Attachment & Presentation Setup A great boat sale doesn't end when the customer agrees to buy. The salesperson is responsible for properly setting up the F&I opportunity before the customer reaches the F&I presentation. Understand the customer's financing needs, introduce financing and payment conversations appropriately, build value around available protection products, and create a professional handoff to F&I. Sales opens the door for
F&I. F&I
shouldn't have to reopen the sale. You'll be accountable for helping create strong F&I attachment and penetration , not simply handing off paperwork. 4. Trade & ACV Discipline Understand the economics of the entire transaction. Accurately gather and document trade information, understand the difference between Actual Cash Value (ACV), trade allowance, and selling price , and work within CSB's deal structure to protect gross. You don't have to personally establish final ACV, but you must understand how the trade affects the deal and be able to professionally communicate and negotiate the transaction. 5. Product & Inventory Expertise Become an expert on the boats, engines, options, and equipment we sell. Know our current and incoming inventory. Understand competitive products. Be able to quickly identify which boat best fits a customer's needs. Maintain awareness of website inventory and understand what CSB needs to sell—not simply what's easiest to sell. Who We're Looking For You may currently be successful in marine, automotive, RV, powersports, equipment, luxury retail, home improvement, or another high-ticket commissioned sales environment. What matters is that you can demonstrate a history of producing and closing. We're looking for someone who: Has a proven sales track record and is comfortable being measured against clear goals. Understands pipeline management, follow-up, negotiation, gross, and closing. Can confidently discuss financing, payments, and trades. Builds value before reaching for a discount. Is comfortable asking customers to make a decision. Follows up after average salespeople have stopped. Can manage multiple high-value opportunities simultaneously. Is competitive, coachable, organized, and accountable. Can operate independently without constant direction. Protects the customer experience while still producing results. Most importantly, you understand that great selling and a great customer experience are not opposites. The best salespeople create both. What Success Looks Like Success in this role isn't simply selling boats. We're looking for: Production
+ Gross
+ F&I
+ Trade Discipline
+ Customer Experience A successful Lake Wylie salesperson consistently produces $4M+ annually , protects gross, creates strong F&I opportunities, handles trades intelligently, maintains a healthy pipeline, and creates customers who want to buy from Charlotte Ski Boats again. A great producer sees $4M as the standard and asks: "How do I build this into $5M or $6M+?" Schedule Our standard work week is: Tuesday-Saturday Our schedule aligns our sales team with when boating customers are most active. Marine sales is customer-driven, so flexibility is required based on customer appointments, boat demonstrations, deliveries, events, and seasonal business needs. This is not a traditional Monday-Friday, 9-5 sales position. Successful high-ticket sales professionals understand that occasionally taking care of the customer requires flexibility. At the same time, we believe in clear expectations, accountability, and operating an organized sales process rather than simply expecting salespeople to always be available. Benefits In addition to the commission opportunity, Charlotte Ski Boats offers a competitive employee benefits package. Benefits may include, based on eligibility: Health insurance Dental and vision coverage Paid time off Paid holidays Retirement / 401(k) benefits Employee discounts Manufacturer and product training Professional development Leadership development Opportunities for advancement within CSB Specific eligibility, coverage, and plan details will be reviewed during the hiring process. Growth Opportunity This position is designed first for a high-performing sales professional. Your first responsibility is to become a successful producer at our Lake Wylie location. For the right person, however, the opportunity doesn't have to stop there. Charlotte Ski Boats believes in developing leaders from within. A salesperson who consistently produces, protects the customer experience, understands the economics of the dealership, develops others, and demonstrates leadership capability may have the opportunity to grow into greater operational and leadership responsibility—including future General Manager-level opportunities and participation on our Leadership Team. Leadership isn't promised by the position. It is earned through performance, capability, and alignment with our culture. If you're someone who wants to produce today while developing the ability to lead a business tomorrow , there is meaningful runway here. This Role Probably Isn't for You If... This probably isn't the right opportunity if you're primarily looking for guaranteed compensation, uncomfortable with performance-based pay, dislike prospecting or follow-up, avoid asking customers to make decisions, immediately discount when faced with price resistance, or require constant day-to-day direction to stay productive. Likewise, if you view your responsibility as ending when the customer says "yes," this isn't the seat. We expect our sales professionals to understand and contribute to the entire economics and customer experience of the transaction. About Charlotte Ski Boats Charlotte Ski Boats is a multi-location marine dealership serving the greater Charlotte boating community. We support our customers through Boat Sales, Service, Parts, and Accessories and represent multiple categories of recreational boats and marine products. We're building a company around strong people, clear systems, accountability, leadership development, and an exceptional customer experience. Our goal isn't simply to sell someone a boat. It's to build long-term relationships with boaters and help families enjoy: More Time on the Water. Our Lake Wylie location represents an important growth opportunity for CSB, and we're looking for someone who wants the opportunity to: Produce. Earn. Grow. Lead.
