Responsibilities Supervise all aspects of produce department operations, including stocking, merchandising, and inventory control to maintain freshness and quality standards. Lead and motivate a team of employees through effective training, coaching, and performance management to ensure high levels of customer service and operational excellence. Manage purchasing and pricing strategies to maximize sales and profitability while controlling costs through efficient inventory management. Oversee cash handling, POS (Point of Sale) systems, and cashiering activities to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies. Conduct employee orientation, interviewing, recruiting, and onboarding processes to build a strong, capable team aligned with company goals. Monitor sales trends, perform basic math calculations for budgeting and pricing adjustments, and implement merchandising strategies to boost department performance. Ensure compliance with safety standards, store policies, health regulations, and proper sanitation practices within the produce department. Experience Proven management experience in retail or grocery store environments with supervisory responsibilities in produce or perishable goods. Strong knowledge of inventory management systems, POS systems, purchasing procedures, and retail math principles. Demonstrated skills in negotiation, employee training & development, team management, and operational oversight. Experience with budgeting, bookkeeping, payroll processing, cash handling, and store operations management. Excellent communication skills in multiple languages or bilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse customer bases effectively. Prior experience in retail sales team management within the grocery or food industry is highly desirable. Familiarity with merchandising techniques, stock rotation practices, pricing strategies, and customer service excellence is essential for success in this role.
