Essential duties The produce clerk plays an important role in the ongoing functions of the produce department. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs. The essential duties and responsibilities of the position include: Asks customers if they need assistance and suggests additional sales in the produce department; Accurately packages, prices, and stocks products within the department; Monitors products being stocked to ensure they meet or exceed customer expectations; Maintains a thorough knowledge of products, ingredients, and services provided by the department; Cuts and packages fruits and vegetables for prepared foods service; Ensures State and County safety and sanitation standards are met with all equipment, surfaces, and floors within the department and the proper methods are used when handling food.
