Job Description

Overview (Contingent) This senior technical position provides hands-on engineering technician support and team leadership for strategic weapon system maintenance, inspection, and integration activities at Cape Canaveral, Florida. The Engineering Technician IV brings extensive experience with SSBN (ballistic missile submarine) missile technology systems and leads small teams of technicians performing technical procedures in support of naval strategic programs. The candidate serves as the primary technical authority at the technician level, ensuring all work is performed safely, accurately, and in full compliance with applicable program technical orders and procedures. This position requires a current active Secret security clearance and a demonstrated record of technical leadership in a defense or strategic systems environment Responsibilities Lead a team of engineering technicians in performing maintenance, inspection, assembly, and disassembly of strategic missile system components. Serve as technical lead on complex procedures involving SSBN missile technology and associated support equipment. Interpret and execute technical manuals, engineering drawings, and work instructions for missile system components. Ensure all work activities comply with applicable safety, quality, and environmental standards. Coordinate with engineers, quality assurance personnel, and government representatives during technical operations. Train and mentor junior technicians on procedures, safety practices, and technical standards. Document technical work performed, including completion records, discrepancy reports, and non-conformance reports. Troubleshoot anomalies encountered during technical procedures and escalate findings to engineering personnel as required. Support scheduling and planning of technician workload and facility resources. Maintain tools, test equipment, and work areas in accordance with FOD (Foreign Object Damage/Debris) prevention and 5S standards. Required Qualifications Minimum 10 years of experience as an engineering technician or technical specialist, including team leadership responsibilities. Minimum 6 years of direct hands-on experience with SSBN missile technology systems (e.g., Trident II D5 or related strategic weapon system components). Active Secret security clearance required at time of hire. Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise teams of technicians in a technical operations environment. Proficiency interpreting engineering drawings, technical manuals, and work instructions. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and procedural compliance in all technical work activities. US Citizens Only No Green Card Holders, Visa Holders, or Sponsorships are available. Preferred Qualifications Military service background in Navy submarine or strategic weapons community (
Rating/MOS:
MT, FT, MM, or equivalent). Experience at a Navy Strategic Weapons Facility (SWF) or equivalent government strategic weapons facility. Familiarity with DoD quality management systems and inspection/acceptance procedures. Experience with hazardous material handling and safety programs in a technical operations environment. Completion of Navy technical training related to Trident missile systems or associated equipment.. Specialized Experience SSBN Missile Technology Minimum 6 years of hands-on technical experience with submarine-launched ballistic missile systems, components, or related ground support equipment. Technical Team Leadership 10+ years of experience as an engineering technician or specialist, with demonstrated leadership of technician teams in a defense or strategic systems environment. Security Clearance Candidates must hold a current, active Secret security clearance at time of hire. Personnel must maintain clearance eligibility for the full duration of program support. Clearance sponsorship is not available for this position; only candidates with an existing active clearance will be considered. About the Position This is a full-time, on-site position located at Cape Canaveral, Florida. Work may involve physical activities including lifting, standing for extended periods, and operating in confined or restricted-access areas consistent with a technical operations environment. All personnel must comply with applicable security protocols, base access requirements, and government site policies in effect at the facility. Work schedules and shift assignments will be determined based on program requirements and mission needs. $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
