Job Description
Overview (Contingent) This senior technical position provides hands-on engineering technician support and team leadership for strategic weapon system maintenance, inspection, and integration activities at Cape Canaveral, Florida. The Engineering Technician IV brings extensive experience with SSBN (ballistic missile submarine) missile technology systems and leads small teams of technicians performing technical procedures in support of naval strategic programs. The candidate serves as the primary technical authority at the technician level, ensuring all work is performed safely, accurately, and in full compliance with applicable program technical orders and procedures. This position requires a current active Secret security clearance and a demonstrated record of technical leadership in a defense or strategic systems environment Responsibilities Lead a team of engineering technicians in performing maintenance, inspection, assembly, and disassembly of strategic missile system components. Serve as technical lead on complex procedures involving SSBN missile technology and associated support equipment. Interpret and execute technical manuals, engineering drawings, and work instructions for missile system components. Ensure all work activities comply with applicable safety, quality, and environmental standards. Coordinate with engineers, quality assurance personnel, and government representatives during technical operations. Train and mentor junior technicians on procedures, safety practices, and technical standards. Document technical work performed, including completion records, discrepancy reports, and non-conformance reports. Troubleshoot anomalies encountered during technical procedures and escalate findings to engineering personnel as required. Support scheduling and planning of technician workload and facility resources. Maintain tools, test equipment, and work areas in accordance with FOD (Foreign Object Damage/Debris) prevention and 5S standards. Required Qualifications Minimum 10 years of experience as an engineering technician or technical specialist, including team leadership responsibilities. Minimum 6 years of direct hands-on experience with SSBN missile technology systems (e.g., Trident II D5 or related strategic weapon system components). Active Secret security clearance required at time of hire. Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise teams of technicians in a technical operations environment. Proficiency interpreting engineering drawings, technical manuals, and work instructions. Strong commitment to safety, quality, and procedural compliance in all technical work activities. US Citizens Only No Green Card Holders, Visa Holders, or Sponsorships are available. Preferred Qualifications Military service background in Navy submarine or strategic weapons community (
