Job Description

Northwell Health, New York State's leading health care provider and the largest private employer, boasts 21 hospitals, approximately 900 outpatient facilities, and partnerships with over 12,000 physicians. Annually, we extend care to over two million individuals throughout the New York metropolitan area and beyond. Our team of 85,000 professionals, including distinguished nurses and doctors, is committed to transforming health care. At the forefront of medical and surgical innovations through the Northwell Transplant Institute, we also cultivate the next generation of medical leaders at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, the Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies, and the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research. We are actively seeking a full-time academic Transplant Hepatologist to join our Division of Hepatology and the Northwell Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation. This critical role involves overseeing the medical care of patients with liver diseases, including those in need of liver transplantation. The position is open to candidates at the assistant, associate, and professor of medicine levels, depending on qualifications and experience. Key responsibilities include diagnosing and treating liver conditions, assessing eligibility for liver transplantation, overseeing both pre- and post-transplant care, and educating medical students, residents, and GI and Transplant Hepatology fellows. Candidates should be board eligible or certified in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology, with proven expertise in General and Transplant Hepatology as well as endoscopy. The role demands excellence in clinical and diagnostic skills, strong communication and interpersonal abilities for effective teamwork and patient care, and eligibility for medical licensure in New York State. Additionally, the position is suitable for individuals at various stages of their academic careers, including assistant, associate, and full professor levels. Experience in academic research and teaching is highly valued and will be considered a significant advantage.
