04-Sep-2026 Job Summary The candidate must have experience working with measurements of Earth Radiation Budget (ERB) and particular understanding of the Libera mission and Libera measurements. The position will explore new methods of data inversion to create ERB products. They will also develop detailed, quantitative models for deriving the propagation of uncertainty from direct measurements to derived products. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Your key responsibilities are to develop Libera Angular Distribution Models for radiance to irradiance conversion. You will also further develop Guide to the expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM) model specifically for the space-based measurements of ERB. and refinement of paper for peer review publication on the uncertainty in direct Libera measurements to footprint level irradiance. Finally, you will develop operation code for the Libera split shortwave radiance to irradiance retrieval and contribute to the Algorithm Theoretical Basis Document. Other duties as assigned. What You Should Know Details such as expected on-site work hours, coordination with group members, and other aspects of working with the LASP research group and expected behavior will be provided in a written document and upon agreement by all parties, signed by candidate and research advisor. Background in space-based instruments or observations. Fluent in Python, Matlab, or IDL. What We Would Like You to Have A degree in Aerospace Engineering Science and a demonstration of publishing in peer-review journals and presenting at conferences.
