Join us in the exciting, innovative and rewarding environment of the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR)! The Fish and Wildlife Technician II position provides critical support to the Program Coordinator and biologist in the Streams Investigations Branch. Along with assisting with sampling of fish populations, maintaining equipment needed to perform the fish population sampling, and assists in compiling data. Proper sampling is vital in making management recommendations for streams and rivers in Kentucky. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist biologist(s) with field data collections using standardized fisheries methods and appropriate gear types. Operate and maintain all project equipment including boats, trailers, vehicles, trap nets, hoop nets, gill nets, trot lines and other sampling equipment and prepares for field use. Assist in design and fabrication of equipment as needed. Perform data entry and results compilations. Assist other fisheries staff with population studies, habitat improvement work, fish harvest and fish transport. Initiate purchases as directed by following state and agency policies and procedures. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in
