Job Summary We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to support research, development, and testing of solventborne paint and coating systems. This hands-on position involves preparing paint formulations, applying coatings using spray equipment, conducting laboratory and application testing, and accurately documenting results. The Laboratory Technician will work closely with chemists, engineers, and R&D team members to generate accurate testing data and support high-quality experimental results. Key Responsibilities Paint Preparation & Application Prepare solventborne paint and coating formulations according to established procedures and formulations. Apply coatings using spray equipment, including spray guns, panels, and test substrates. Perform coating applications under controlled laboratory or spray booth conditions. Adjust application parameters such as viscosity, pressure, spray gun setup, and film thickness to achieve consistent results. Perform prescribed laboratory and application testing using established test methods. Set up, adjust, and operate laboratory equipment and instruments. Testing & Documentation Conduct laboratory testing according to established procedures and test methods. Accurately capture and record laboratory data and technical results. Maintain an up-to-date electronic laboratory notebook and/or project folders. Maintain laboratory documentation in accordance with established ISO standards. Collaborate with team members to ensure testing schedules and project timelines are maintained. Manage assigned responsibilities and prioritize duties to meet project goals. Safety & Compliance Work safely with flammable solvents, paints, coatings, and other hazardous materials. Follow established environmental, health, and safety procedures. Use all required personal protective equipment (PPE). Follow chemical hygiene procedures and properly label, store, handle, and dispose of hazardous materials and waste. Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory and spray booth environment. Follow all laboratory safety and security requirements. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing procedures. Comfortable using computers to capture, record, and maintain laboratory data. Ability to follow standardized test methods, formulations, and procedures. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Strong safety awareness. Good communication and teamwork skills. Strong time-management skills and reliability. Hands-on mechanical and technical aptitude. Willingness to learn new laboratory methods, equipment, and procedures. Preferred Experience Paint or coatings Solventborne formulations Spray guns or spray application equipment Laboratory testing Quality control Chemical or industrial laboratories R&D laboratory environments ISO documentation Laboratory instrumentation Mixing or preparing formulations Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks. Ability to lift and move materials weighing approximately 25-40 pounds. Comfortable working around solvents, paints, coatings, and spray operations. Ability to wear required PPE while performing laboratory duties. Some responsibilities will require working in spray booths or fume hoods. Appropriate PPE and ventilation are provided for applicable laboratory activities. #IND2
