team in Newington, Connecticut. This position is ideal for an early-career chemist seeking to develop hands-on experience in synthetic organic chemistry and laboratory-based research. The Assistant Scientist will support senior scientists in the execution of organic synthesis experiments, reaction optimization, sample preparation, data analysis, and laboratory operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, a solid foundation in organic chemistry, a commitment to laboratory safety and scientific rigor, and a willingness to learn and develop technical skills in a collaborative R D environment. Key Responsibilities Execute organic synthesis experiments under the guidance of senior researchers and in accordance with established experimental procedures and protocols. Perform routine laboratory activities, including reaction setup, monitoring, workup, purification, and product isolation, while maintaining accuracy, reproducibility, and adherence to safety requirements. Assist with reaction optimization and process improvement activities by evaluating experimental results and identifying opportunities to improve yield, purity, selectivity, and efficiency. Collect, analyze, and document experimental data and prepare clear summaries of experimental results for review by senior scientific staff. Assist in identifying experimental challenges and support troubleshooting and optimization efforts under the direction of senior researchers. Apply common organic chemistry techniques, including extraction, filtration, chromatography, crystallization, and other appropriate purification methods. Support analytical characterization and data interpretation using available laboratory techniques and instrumentation, as appropriate. Maintain complete, accurate, and timely laboratory notebooks, experimental records, and technical reports, ensuring data integrity and traceability. Follow established experimental plans and project priorities while progressively developing independent laboratory and problem-solving skills. Support routine laboratory operations, including chemical inventory management, equipment care, laboratory organization, and preparation of materials and reagents. Follow all applicable laboratory safety, chemical handling, hygiene, quality, and intellectual property requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment. Stay current with relevant developments in organic chemistry techniques, reagents, synthetic methodologies, and laboratory practices, and apply appropriate knowledge to assigned research activities. Collaborate effectively with senior scientists and other members of the R D team to support project objectives and timelines. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related scientific discipline. Strong foundational knowledge of organic chemistry, reaction mechanisms, and synthetic chemistry principles. Hands-on laboratory experience in organic synthesis, analytical chemistry, or a related research environment is preferred. Working knowledge of common synthetic methodologies, reagents, catalysts, and separation and purification techniques, including chromatography and crystallization. Ability to accurately follow detailed experimental procedures and protocols while maintaining careful attention to experimental conditions and safety requirements. Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify experimental issues and troubleshoot them with guidance from senior researchers. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation, reproducibility, and data integrity. Ability to receive feedback, learn new techniques, and progressively develop greater independence in laboratory work. Strong written and verbal English communication skills, including the ability to read and understand scientific literature and technical documentation. Highly responsible, collaborative, organized, and self-motivated, with a strong interest in scientific research and continuous professional development. Additional Requirements At least one (1) year of relevant laboratory experience is preferred. Ability to lift and transport laboratory materials weighing up to 40 lbs. Authorization to work in the United States without current or future employment sponsorship. Willingness and ability to work on-site in Newington, Connecticut.
