Lead Analytical Chemist DSC Laboratories, Inc. — Muskegon, MI Full-time | First Shift About Us DSC Laboratories is a cGMP OTC pharmaceutical manufacturer located in Muskegon, MI — just 8 miles from the Lake Michigan shoreline. Our mission is to support our customers in achieving their potential through effective, innovative, and reliable solutions, delivered with exceptional service and superior quality. We're looking for an experienced chemist ready to step into a Lead Analytical Chemist role within our cGMP manufacturing facility, with a clear path to progress into laboratory management. What You Will Do
Develop and validate chromatographic methods (HPLC, GC) for raw materials, in-process, and finished products
Perform analytical testing using UV and IR spectroscopy, Total Organic Carbon (TOC) analysis, and general wet chemistry techniques
Perform routine analysis of raw materials, packaging components, in-process samples, and finished products in accordance with approved specifications and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Operate, troubleshoot, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on laboratory instrumentation; coordinate with external service providers for preventive maintenance and annual calibration when required
Develop and maintain written laboratory procedures and analytical methods in conjunction with documentation personnel and management
Lead Out-Of-Specification (OOS), Non-Conforming Material Report (NCMR), and deviation investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions
Support process validations, method transfers, and equipment qualification activities
Lead, train, and mentor laboratory analysts on methods, instrumentation, and cGMP requirements
Prioritize laboratory analysis and testing schedules based on production demands and regulatory requirements
Partner with production and management to forecast laboratory needs and staffing requirements
Review analytical data generated by other analysts for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with specifications and documentation requirements
Maintain compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP), cGMP, and applicable safety procedures Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline
5+ years of experience working in a cGMP/cGLP environment
Hands-on experience with chromatography method development and validation (HPLC, GC)
Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and general operational functions
Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and develop laboratory personnel Nice to Have
Cleaning validation experience (TOC analysis)
Microbiological testing experience
Regulatory affairs experience
Production/packaging experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or closely related field (required)
Minimum 5 years of cGMP/cGLP laboratory experience (required)
