Join the Sawgrass Nature Center and Wildlife Hospital as our Environmental Education Coordinator. Lead engaging educational programs, work hands-on with native wildlife ambassadors, coordinate seasonal camps, and help promote conservation throughout South Florida. This dynamic role combines teaching, program management, outreach, and environmental stewardship in a mission-driven nonprofit setting. Ideal candidates are energetic, organized, creative, and passionate about connecting people with nature. Be part of a team making a difference for wildlife, education, and the community every day. Duties Deliver existing environmental education programs and develop new programs for a variety of audiences at Sawgrass Nature Center, client locations, and virtual platforms. Safely handle and present educational animals during programs, presentations, and public events. Manage all aspects of educational programming, including marketing, scheduling, booking, invoicing, and program administration. Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of Camp Wild during Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer sessions, including recordkeeping and the training and supervision of volunteer CITs and counselors. Write weekly educational blog content. Assist with the management of and content development for the organization's social media platforms. Promote and market Sawgrass Nature Center programs and services through outreach events, on-site activities, and online channels. Assist with daily operations, including grant writing, administrative duties, facility maintenance, and customer service. Support fundraising activities and special events. Assist other departments and programs as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Biology, Environmental Studies, Environmental Education, or a related natural science field. Minimum of one year of experience working with elementary-aged children. Comfortable working with and handling a variety of animals, including birds, reptiles, and mammals. Ability to teach and lead programs in an active outdoor environment and in varying weather conditions. Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related software. Working knowledge of Canva. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to solve problems independently. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Positive, outgoing, and professional demeanor. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to use personal transportation to transport educational animals to off-site programs when necessary. Willingness to assist in other areas of the organization as needed. Successful completion of a background check.
