We Pursue a Higher StandardCoeur Mining is a U.S.-based, well-diversified, growing precious metals producer with seven wholly-owned operations: the New Afton gold-copper mine in British Columbia, Canada, the Rainy River gold-silver mine in Ontario, Canada, the Las Chiapas silver-gold mine in Sonora, Mexico, the Palmarejo gold-silver mine in Chihuahua, Mexico, the Rochester silver-gold mine in Nevada, the Kensington gold mine in Alaska and the Wharf gold mine in South Dakota. About the
Job:
Coeur Rochester, based near Lovelock, Nevada, is seeking a Senior Environmental Coordinator to join our team at the Rochester Mine. This position involves performing complex environmental oversight with considerable independent judgment and decision making. Reporting to the Environmental Manager, the Senior Environmental Coordinator will perform the following duties at the
Rochester Mine:
Responsibilities:
Implementation of the Companys environmental programs in order to maintain and document compliance with all applicable environmental laws, rules, and permit stipulationsAssists the Environmental Manager with the review of compliance, data trends and reportingAssists in the development and communication of improvement plans related to environmental managementProvides input and assists the Environmental Manager and Operations personnel in the planning and response to environmental issues and concernsAssists with planning, schedules, and monitoring environmental aspects of capital projects Helps ensure that resources are available for the timely completion of all capital projectsEnsures compliance with the required environmental deliverables through inspections, physical audits, and timely correction of identified deficiencies Assists with the implementation of the environmental management systemSupervises, coaches and assists in the development of Environmental staffConducts field environmental monitoring activities related to air, water, wildlife, soils, vegetation, meteorology, and archaeology. Assist, formulate, document and implement environmental sampling routines and quality control procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements of applicable permits and company policyAssists in the preparation of permits, studies, or regulatory reports related to environmental complianceDevelop and update monitoring and reporting protocols in accordance with state and federal statutes and regulationsSupervise activities of external contractors/consultants involved with environmental and reclamation projectsProvide Environmental training to staff as requested
Required Qualifications & Skills:
BS, MS, or Technical Degree in environmental, biological, or earth sciences and 7 years of environmental and management experience within the mining industry or related industryAlternatively, 12 years of equivalent environmental management experience5 to 10 years of environmental experience at an operational mineWorking knowledge of Nevada environmental regulationsProficient in GIS mappingWorking knowledge of Federal and State regulations and permit requirementsStrong leadership qualities: character, teamwork, communication, business sense, and visionEffective written and verbal communication skillsProficient in computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applicationsExcellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well within a team environmentStrong analytical ability, problem-solving skills, & work ethic
