GED Full Job Description Company Overview:
JLM Environmental stands as one of Southern California's premier and rapidly expanding environmental assessment firms. Since 2011, our organization has successfully delivered over 47,000 professional property inspections. Operating as a tight-knit, family-led enterprise, we pride ourselves on maintaining an uplifting, collaborative workplace culture where driven professionals thrive. Our core expertise involves evaluating and testing properties, including residential housing, commercial spaces, places of worship, and educational facilities across SoCal, for hazardous contaminants like mold, radon, asbestos, and lead. We heavily invest in the internal advancement of our personnel. Team members enjoy cross-training avenues across our enterprise, which features a federally accredited testing laboratory and a state-sanctioned training academy. If you are ready to transition from a routine job into a long-term, impact-driven career path focused on environmental protection, JLM Environmental is your destination.
Role Overview:
JLM Environmental is currently hiring a full-time Environmental Sampling & Site Technician. This opportunity is an ideal fit for self-directed professionals accustomed to working autonomously within client residences and commercial locations. Successful candidates typically bring past experience where they independently assessed properties, communicated service solutions, and executed technical installations or client services. We frequently see great success with applicants transitioning from customer-centric trades and field services, such as HVAC maintenance, pest control or extermination, solar panel setup, home inspection, property restoration, general construction, appliance servicing, and telecommunications installations. Prior experience in environmental testing is not mandatory. We provide comprehensive training to build your proficiency within the environmental consulting sector. We are looking for individuals who thrive on-site, enjoy interacting with property owners, excel at tracking data, and want to develop a valuable, specialized trade skill. Daily Duties & Operational Scope Execute comprehensive, methodical surveys of client properties following strict testing and sampling protocols. Identify and sample environmental contaminants including asbestos, lead, mold, radon, VOCs (volatile organic compounds), methamphetamine residue, and fire/smoke byproducts. Conduct detailed visual evaluations and pull representative samples using compliant scientific methodologies. Walk clients clearly through the assessment sequence, outlining service recommendations and subsequent actions. Assess property conditions during appointments to recommend supplementary, beneficial testing services tailored to client needs. Complete accurate Chain-of-Custody documentation for every sample collected, managing multiple forms per job site when necessary. Author comprehensive assessment logs detailing material types, physical locations, quantities, and general site conditions. Provide exemplary client care by resolving property-owner inquiries with high levels of professionalism, clarity, and technical competence. Optimize routing and transit schedules to guarantee timely arrivals and prompt completion of daily appointments. Keep all assigned testing equipment, gear, documentation, and company assets clean, organized, and fully operational.
Position Expectations & Core Competencies:
Demonstrated track record of strong client service and interpersonal communication. Prior work history in field services, installations, trades, home evaluations, or client-facing sales roles is strongly preferred. Ability to present technical service options to commercial and residential clients using transparent, low-pressure communication styles. Meticulous attention to detail and sharp observational capabilities. Strong written documentation abilities and verbal articulation. Capable of managing an independent workload while strictly adhering to internal protocols. Resilience to work in diverse physical environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, fluctuating seasonal temperatures, and adverse weather. Willingness and capability to wear specialized Personal Protective Equipment to protect against hazards like lead, mold, asbestos, radon, VOCs, and meth residue. Physical capability to climb ladders (accessing rooftops and attics) and navigate tight spaces like crawlspaces. Strength to lift and transport roughly 50 lbs across the course of a shift. Openness to working 40 to 50 hours weekly. Ability to spend up to 60 percent of work hours driving to locations and handling administrative tasks. A dependable, proactive, and team-focused mindset.
Basic Qualifications:
Prior customer service background is mandatory. High School Diploma or equivalent G.E.D. Field exposure in sectors like home inspections, pest/termite mitigation, solar installation, HVAC, restoration, or construction trades is a major plus. Background in direct-to-owner service consulting, sales, or installation preferred.
Pay:
