LOCATION:
Aurora, IL HOURS:
Monday-Friday 9:00-4:00pm; Saturdays 9:00-3:00pm. Schedule and hours will vary based on programming, with flexibility in days/shifts. Some weekends, evenings, and/or holidays may be required. Not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.
RATE:
$16 - $20/hour

QUALIFICATIONS
Strong presentation skills with the ability to engage youth and adults in learning about nature are essential. Prefer 1+ years of experience teaching or interpreting for children in formal or informal settings and coursework or experience in ecology, biology, environmental science, or teaching methods. Must be self-motivated, work independently, and have excellent customer service, organization, and leadership skills. Recreation software experience is a plus. CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required within three months of employment.
DUTIES:
Under the direction and supervision of the Environmental Educational Supervisor and Facility Manager, the part time Environmental Educator is responsible for contributing to the goals of the Red Oak Nature Center and The Wilds by assisting with daily operations and coordinating and providing instruction on environmental education and interpretative programs for schools, families and the general public.
