About Thompson Creek Mine The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometers southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County. In operations since 1983, the mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day. Thompson Creek Mine promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site. About The Opportunity We have an exciting opportunity for an Ore Control Geologist, Mine to join our Thompson Creek team. The Ore Control Geologist supports daily ore control and production geology activities to maximize ore recovery, minimize dilution, and ensure accurate material classification throughout the mining process. This role is responsible for executing field-based and office-based geological work including ore and waste delineation, mapping, sampling, stockpile tracking, geological data collection, and support for short-term model updates. Working closely with mine operations, engineering, survey, metallurgy, and Senior Mine Geologist, the Ore Control Geologist provides timely geological support to daily mining activities and contributes to continuous improvement in ore control practices, reconciliation, and geological workflows. A strong commitment to safe work practices, regulatory compliance, and adherence to company standards is essential. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Carry out daily ore control activities including mapping, sampling, stockpile management, and ore/waste delineation. Support dilution control, mine recovery, and ore control model updates as directed by the Senior Mine Geologist. Collect representative samples and ensure geological, sampling, and assay data are accurately validated, recorded, and maintained in auditable databases and digital filing systems. Perform routine field inspections in active mining areas to monitor ore exposure, geological contacts, and mining conformance to ore control boundaries. Assist in maintaining geological databases and ensuring data is entered, checked, and validated in a timely and accurate manner. Conduct pit wall and bench geological or structural mapping and communicate relevant observations to Senior Mine Geologist or geotechnical personnel. Assist with stockpile management and material tracking to support accurate ore accounting and reconciliation. Provide geological support to mine operations, mine planning, engineering, metallurgy, and other site groups as required. Coordinate with Survey for the set-out and pick-up of drill hole collars, ore control patterns, stockpiles, and dig advances. Actively support and participate in site safety, health, and environmental programs and ensure all work is carried out in compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements. About You To qualify, the following skills and experiences are required: Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related field, required. 2+ years of experience in open pit mine geology and ore control. Experience in open pit mining environments, preferred. Experience with geological mapping, drilling programs, and data analysis, preferred. Experience with geological modelling platforms (Deswik, Leapfrog, Maptek, etc.), preferred. Experience with geological databases (acQuire or similar systems), preferred.
