VMG is seeking a Scientific Program Manager to support the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) by providing scientific and programmatic leadership for vaccine development initiatives. This position focuses on supporting vaccine manufacturing programs, including Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) compliance under 21 CFR Parts 210 and 211, while coordinating scientific programs, evaluating research proposals, monitoring project performance, and supporting strategic planning activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong scientific expertise, program management experience, and a comprehensive understanding of biomedical research, NIH funding mechanisms, and vaccine development to support high-impact research initiatives and advance NIAID's scientific portfolio. Key Responsibilities Provide scientific and programmatic support for vaccine development initiatives and research programs. Coordinate scientific projects from initiation through completion, monitoring project status, funding, milestones, and outcomes. Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams on the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of scientific programs. Conduct portfolio analyses and evaluate program effectiveness against established scientific and organizational goals. Organize and coordinate scientific workshops, technical meetings, consultations, and program reviews. Prepare meeting agendas, reports, minutes, presentations, and scientific analyses for leadership. Evaluate scientific programs and develop recommendations to improve program performance and operational effectiveness. Develop, evaluate, and refine research funding concepts and scientific solicitations. Perform scientific and administrative reviews of grant applications, research proposals, and program initiatives. Analyze research proposals by evaluating scientific merit, experimental design, technical approaches, and potential impact. Develop project plans, implementation strategies, timelines, and performance measures to support scientific initiatives. Support long-range strategic planning, policy development, and scientific program evaluation. Develop educational resources and training materials to increase awareness of program objectives and initiatives. Provide scientific guidance to investigators and research staff while supporting the development of innovative research programs. Collaborate with scientists, investigators, and NIH leadership to identify new research opportunities and overcome technical challenges. Required Qualifications Master's degree in Community and Public Health or a related scientific discipline. Demonstrated knowledge of vaccine development and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations, including 21 CFR Parts 210 and 211. Knowledge of NIH grants, funding mechanisms, and biomedical research programs. Experience reviewing scientific research proposals and evaluating program performance. Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel. Ability to manage multiple priorities while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary scientific teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting NIH, NIAID, or other federal biomedical research programs. Experience managing scientific portfolios, vaccine development programs, or translational research initiatives. Experience with strategic planning, scientific program evaluation, and policy development. Experience coordinating scientific meetings, workshops, and research collaborations. Familiarity with federal grant review processes and biomedical research funding. Work Environment Full-time position (40 hours per week). Monday through Friday schedule. Position is located in Rockville, Maryland. Telework is available in accordance with government approval. Professional scientific program management environment requiring collaboration with researchers, investigators, federal leadership, and external scientific partners. Minimal physical demands in a standard office environment.
