The crux of all Tiburon research associate roles is to complete three research & publishing (PowerPoint) projects per day (with a goal of making each report about 5% better each day). Research & publishing projects' completion includes processing the managing partner's suggestions, updating data, completing directed research, conducting self-directed research, incorporating other Tiburon research, conducting Tiburon member interviews, publishing to the Tiburon website, confirming the working order of links, and delivering publishing reports to the firm's managing partner. Tiburon research associate assignments can have slightly different points of focus (e.g., supporting the firm's signature Tiburon CEO Summit Keynote Presentation; supporting the firm's weekly topics publishing agenda; and supporting the firm's managing partner's board roles and other member profiles). All research associate opportunities are for those wanting a fast-paced and accountable culture, who want to learn and get ahead, and who are willing to work overtime when required; these are not roles for someone(s) looking to take it easy, to be given daily direction, or to learn over a long time period. These opportunities also present the opportunity to assist in major transformations to a more streamlined business model, a remote work environment, and potentially a new ownership structure. These roles require a unique skill set; the right candidates must be organized, intelligent, analytical, efficient, detail oriented, humble enough to immediately and independently follow tightly-defined existing research methods, and savvy enough to later help develop those research methods and train other employees. Knowledge of PowerPoint is mandatory. Savvy CEO-oriented analytical skills are required but detailed statistics modeling is not part of this role; many unsuccessful candidates have mistakenly promoted their statistical modeling skills, which are unimportant when serving Tiburon C-suite member executives. Knowledge of personal finance concepts and terminology would be helpful. Knowledge of Salesforce would also be helpful. New research associates will start by serving short stints on Tiburon's member service, sales, & marketing team, where they will build a working knowledge of Tiburon's members and firm processes. Following the conclusion of the Tiburon CEO Summit LI in October, they will transition into the research associate role described above. Tiburon is looking for candidates with approximately five years of professional experience and who understand the importance of delivering high-quality, proofread, finished work; accuracy and polish are non-negotiable. Tiburon prefers candidates based in the San Francisco Bay Area or the New York City area where the firm's employees meet approximately monthly for in-person work weeks.
