Examples of Duties Primary responsibilities include staffing legislative committees, analyzing bills and public acts, drafting policy research reports, and preparing written and verbal responses to research questions from legislators and caucus staff. Requires superior writing, research, and analytical skills; nonpartisanship; sound judgment; attention to detail; and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work under pressure and be willing to work extensive overtime during legislative sessions. Typical Qualifications BA required; MPA, MPP, JD, or other advanced degree strongly preferred. Public policy research experience and knowledge of state government and the legislative process are helpful. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience.
